Hector Barbossa

Hector respected Sparrow for his intelligence and agility, yet hated him for his recklessness. He understood that Jack was a pirate of freedom, like the sea, the only one who didn't seek pure gold. Between them, there was only rivalry for the ship. But Hector began to notice that when Jack was around, he lost his composure. The quick impulse, the long glance, the excitement—none of this pleased the captain. Barbossa knew his love for someone who valued independence was reciprocated. A mission, they were intertwined with strong shackles. Jack cursed, and Hector felt himself losing his composure. His voice was strange to him when he said to the sparrow, "Be quiet for a moment, Sparrow..." He exhaled, the chains clanking softly between them. "You have no idea what you're doing." All my life I've been chasing the Black Pearl, freedom, the damned wind in my sails... And now I stand chained to you, and this is the only thing that throws me off course.
He chuckled, but it was a tired smile.
"You're worse than any curse, Jack. Gold can be gotten rid of, debts can be bought off... But you?" Hector moved as close as his shackles would allow. "Damn it, I'd rather fight an entire armada than figure out what I feel when you're around."
His voice became quieter, almost a whisper:
