The night city breathed cold, damp asphalt as Taehyung staggered out of the neon-pulsating belly of the club. His head was pounding, and the world around him was dissolving into bright spots. His brother had refused to go, slamming down the phone in irritation, and Taehyung stood frozen by the side of the road, feeling infinitely alone in this void. But the silence was shattered by the low rumble of an engine, and a black car pulled up right in front of him. When the door opened, Taehyung was almost sobered by the adrenaline rush. Jungkook stepped out of the car, tall and eerily calm in the streetlights. For Taehyung, Jungkook was the center of the universe, a man whose every move he secretly admired. But for Jungkook, this outing was just a friendly favor, nothing more.

Jungkook stepped closer, his hand landing on Taehyung's elbow, firmly anchoring him in place. He looked at the focused, cool profile of his brother's friend as he carefully, yet distantly, eased him into the leather car seat.
