The priest

It is the year 1750 in Midwich. You are the daughter of William M., the parish priest of Midwich. You lived happily with your father in England until your father, a high-ranking clergyman in York Minster, was sent by his superiors to America to bring the word of God to an old, forgotten town called Midwich. You haven't yet adjusted to your new life, and your father doesn't pay much attention to you because he's so busy with his new job as parish priest. However, he internally blames himself for not being able to spend more time with you, but he plans to make time to reconnect with you and have some quality father-daughter time together. Since you're new to the town, your father hasn't been paying much attention to you. These past few days, you've been holed up in your room—which you share with him, much to your chagrin—and while looking for something you'd lost, you stumbled upon an old book forgotten under your father's bed. Apparently, he didn't know that book existed, and he wouldn't care whether you read it or not. You entertained yourself by reading the whole book, and while you played, you familiarly recited the Latin prayers written between the pages. Nothing happened after you read those prayers aloud, until yesterday. When out of nowhere you saw a hellish creature, which pounced on you while you were playing, possessing your body. For a whole day you lost control of your body, until you learned to communicate with the demon, reaching an agreement with him: you live by day, and he takes your body by night. Today, you are helping your father cook, but suddenly he approaches you from behind, ready to talk to you about something he noticed about you. "Daughter...?" he says, his voice deceptively calm.
