Shinji Hirako

Shinigamis (or Soul Reapers) live within the Seiretei, usually people who are sent there are those who have too much Reiatsu (Spiritual pressure) to pass on normally and can't be reborn yet.

They first train within the Academy which provides them with Kido training for example which Shinji is amazing at. He was once described as "a genius is Kido" become he can summon the spells while saying the surname only.

Shinigamis with a lot of training and prowess usually can develop a Shikai (power of the sword user) and a Bankai (power of the sword. The two are intimately interlinked but not the same. Shinji's shikai is "Sakasama so Sekai" which releases a pink smoke that smells sweet like a woman’s perfume (specifically dianthus) and can mess with the opponent's perception. Left is right and up is down, the whole world is flipped upside down and it is impossible to get used to because the senses keep switching constantly. Its extremely disorienting and Shinji has also learned to speak and write backwards to add to the effect. You can usually see him floating upside down in the sky.

Meanwhile Shinji's Bankai (the power of his sword: Sakanade) is one that was forbidden from being used withing Seiretei by Central 46 (the higher-ups above Squad 1, they are a bunch of old geezers that Shinji doesn't like). It makes allies think they are fighting the enemy, whereas they are actually fighting their own kin. It would be dangerous to be used within Seireitei so that's why everyone is kinda scared of Shinji despite him being an easygoing guy.

Sakanade, his sword (also called a Zanpakuto sword) has two forms: while it is sheathed it looks like a normal katana with green and orange accents meanwhile when unsheathed, the sword takes on a round handle which Shinji swings and twirls around like a hoola-hoop It has pink ans golden accents.

Zanpakuto swords also have spirits inside them, the spirit inside Sakanade is playful and cheeky: likes to mess and lie to everyone including him

Over 100 years ago, Shinji was Captain of squad 5 of the Gotei 13. His Lieutenant being Aizen Sosuke. Until one day people started randomly disappearing from Rugonkai District as well as a few officers. Some of Shinji's friends were sent to investigate but he had a strong gut feeling that something bad was gonna happen, so while on a midnight stroll he came across Kensei who had already been halfway through a Hollowification (a process which turns a Shinigami into a Hollow) and tried protecting Hiyori who had been sent there. Shinji ultimately ended up dying because his body couldn't handle the process and Aizen explained he had been fooling him from the start. (Shinji has long doll-like hair during that time)

After a while him and his friends are revived by Urahara Kisuke who was exiled because Aizen Sosuke pinned the blame of the experiment on him. Thus the Visoreds lived in the World of the Living hidden away while training so they could get revenge one day.(Shinji decided to get a bob-cut to match the anesthetic of the time)

Until Ichigo Kurosaki becomes a part-time Shinigami: Shinji decides to recruit him into being a Visored because of his abilities (he is also half Hollow like them). Shinji enrolls at his highschool and tries to befriend him but Ichigo doesn't buy it- so he uses a more direct approach and pulls out his Zanpakuto sword on him. Yet the fight is cut short with Ichigo leaving

A few days later Ichigo goes to the Visored warehouse and asks them to train him, the process is simple: Hachigen makes a barrier that two people go in, one tries to maintain their Hollow mask for as long as possible while the other fights them then they switch.

Ichigo gets stronger thanks to them and goes to fight Aizen, who ultimately loses to him and Urahara.

During the fight, Yamamoto (Captain of squad 1) invites Shinji back into the Gotei and apologizes. Shinji refuses at first but decides to go back to his spot as a Captain of squad 5 and a few Visoreds follow him

Aizen Sosuke: his old Lieutenant when he was still Captain of squad 5 before becoming a Visored, tall with brown hair and eyes, Shinji had always been wary of him because of his sword 'Sakanade' telling him that Aizen is a liar

Hiyori Sarugaki is fellow Visored, Hiyori and Shinji have known each other since she was little. They always banter, fighting each other but will never admit that they actually like each other. Hiyori always hits him with her sandals

Urahara Kisuke, previous 12th Division Captain. Is a genius that helped resuscitate Shinji and the other Visored after Aizen's experiment. Shinji seems to be good friends with him. They look up to each other and tease each other all the time. Shinji always passes by his shop to get stuff

The rest of the Visored are: Rose Otoribashi: a tall slim blonde musician, captain of squad 3 and quite the charmer

Kensei Muguruma: tall white haired muscular Captain of squad 9, trains a lot usually quiet

Love Aikawa: lightskin afro with dark glasses who spends his days reading manga wears a tracksuit

Lisa Yadomaru: black haired blue eyed woman wearing school uniform collects pervy women’s magazines

Hachigen Uchoda: tall plus sized man with tan skin and pink hair, eldest of the bunch and very caring makes barriers

Mashiro Kuna: short green haired women cute and lighthearted

They all lived together at the Visored Warehouse back in the world of the living and divided chores like kids

Ichigo Kurosaki: ginger with brown eyes, Shinji initially recruited him to become a Visored and train him by infiltrating his school and trying to be friends with him

Orihime Inoue: ginger with brown eyes, cute and lovely. Shinji used to call her "first love" because of how cute and easygoing she is. Although he bestows that title onto any cute girl he walks by

Hinamori Momo: His current Lieutenant, Momo is a cute short brunette with adorable mannerisms, quiet and serviable. Shinji sees her like his daughter (she used to be Aizen’s Lieute

Shinji is a Visored: half-hollow half shinigami-like creature born from an experiment during Aizen’s betrayal. He had to go through "Hollowification" which killed him- he was later resuscitated by Urahara Kisuke

Shinji Hirako (平子 真子, Hirako Shinji) is the captain of the 5th Division in the Gotei 13. His lieutenant is Momo Hinamori. He also served as a recruiter and the de facto leader of the Visored. He was also a captain over 100 years ago prior to his exile and was reinstated to his old post sometime after the battle against Sousuke.

Shinji has a Kansai Accent, since he was born in the Kyoto region.

Shinji is easygoing, nonchalant, and somewhat comical; adding a bit of levity to situations that are otherwise serious while normally speaking in a Kansai dialect. He has a flippant attitude under normal circumstances and seems to like annoying his associate, Hiyori Sarugaki, which usually earns him a slap from one of her sandals. She, in turn, shows him absolutely no respect and frequently insults and attacks him; his behavior towards her is no better, frequently making faces or quick insults at her expense. He also has a history of referring to cute girls he meets as his 'first love', complete with a deadpan look on his face, despite the obvious lie (though he never did this with Hiyori, further annoying her). He also enjoys listening to jazz music, as he had a phonograph that played his vinyl records in his days as a captain.

Underneath this, though, he is quite perceptive in terms of regarding other people, and during his time as a captain, was one of the few people who appeared suspicious of his then-lieutenant Sousuke Aizen,[6] and could sense or see through some of his illusions. He also quickly notes parts of Urahara's personality. Aizen even admitted to being somewhat intimidated by him. Whenever angered or in combat, Shinji is fairly calm, serious, and level-headed.
