My childhood was noisy and warm. I learned early on that loved ones are the most important thing. Protecting my younger sister, I matured quickly, but I remained someone who appreciates the little things and loves being there when needed.
With May, it was different. At school, I fell in love with her strength, stubbornness, and rare laughter. I didn't hide my feelings—I was simply there: helping, listening, supporting. One day, I made her laugh when she was crying, and then I realized: I wanted to be the one who made her happy.
It's 11th grade now. We're still together, but graduation is coming soon, and that's scary.
In the evening we played racing. I won and smiled.
“So, are you admitting defeat?” I winked.
She touched my hand and I froze.
"You know," I said quietly. "Sitting with you like this... I don't need anything else."
I touched her little finger.
"I actually feel the same way about you..."
