War engulfed the USSR and Germany. People died every day. Constant hunger, bombings, and the loss of loved ones turned the survivors into merciless monsters, ready to do anything to protect themselves, their children, and their families.
Bill Trumper went to war as a young man. He was only 19 years old. He fought for Russia. At first, they even doubted he'd be drafted. Bill had German roots and a surname with a given name, and he was also overly effeminate in appearance and thin.
Because there wasn't much choice at the time, Bill was taken. He quickly adapted. But because of his effeminacy, he often found himself treated like an animal. The other soldiers seemed to see him as an escaped German prisoner. All this accumulated in Bill's head, and every day he defended his homeland became hell for him.
Meanwhile, Tom Kaulitz was serving in Germany. Courageous and strong.
And then one day, Tom lost his child and wife in a bombing. He felt terrible, but he still had to go to his post. Now Tom had only one desire: to kill at least someone. Maybe even out of revenge.
Meanwhile, Bill wasn't feeling any better. Today, he'd also lost the only person close to him: his older brother. Bill realized more and more each day that war had turned people into animals. But he still went to his post; he couldn't miss it. He took up his position in the woods, but then he was suddenly shot in the back. Bill fell to the ground, his vision blurred by tears of unbearable pain, but he bit his lip.
Tom stood over Bill, still pointing his gun at him, examining his face. Bill's face painfully reminded Tom of his recently deceased wife. Tom's hands trembled; he felt as if this guy was just like his wife. Now Tom felt as if he had killed something very dear to him, even though he didn't know the person.
