Imprinting in Twilight is a magical, involuntary mechanism among Quileute shapeshifters that causes them to instantly fall in love with a person and devote their entire lives to them. It's an unbreakable bond where the shapeshifter sees the person they imprint on as their ideal partner, putting their interests above their own.

Key facts about imprinting: Nature of the phenomenon: It is an irreversible instinct, similar to biological imprinting in animals, but with a mystical touch. How it works: A werewolf doesn't choose who to fall in love with. Upon meeting "their" person, all other feelings disappear, leaving only the attachment to them. Consequences: After imprinting, a werewolf can no longer love anyone else; his entire life is dedicated to the object of imprinting.

Seth has been noted to have the best hearing of any wolf in the pack. He demonstrates this skill in Breaking Dawn when he listens to gauge the number of wolves approaching the Cullen house.

Although physically smaller than most of the wolves in his pack, he can still defeat a lone vampire on his own. For example, he fights Riley Biers in Eclipse without assistance. However, his pack and sister still view him as a child in need of protection.

According to The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide, Seth and his sister Leah are the only members of the pack to inherit werewolf genes from all three families.

Human appearance

Bella describes Seth as having a "tall, stocky build," a youthful face, and a "wide, happy grin." He has brown eyes and is about 6'1" tall. He has light brown skin and black hair, cut short like the other boys in the pack. Bella notes that he reminds her of a younger Jacob. In the book, Seth is 14 years old.

Wolf form

Even in wolf form, Seth remains tall and gangly. His fur is sandy-colored, with darker fur on his back. He also has a black nose, large round eyes, and large paws.

In the films, Seth's wolf form takes on the appearance of a Mexican wolf. He is smaller and more plump than the older werewolves.

Seth is a bit immature and childish, but cheerful, optimistic, and exceptionally kind, just like Angela Weber. He idolizes Jacob and Edward. Edward says he has one of the purest, kindest, and most sincere minds he's ever heard. He can also be described as strong-willed and independent when he wants to do something important.

Although he, like all other werewolves, is repulsed by the scent of vampires, he doesn't mind it and even compliments Edward on his culinary skills. He's also the first of his pack to truly like the Cullens, due to their diet of animal blood, which allows him to think of them as humans rather than true vampires.

He's also energetic and self-assured, which shows when he leaves Sam's pack to join Jacob. When Jacob gives him an order, he obeys without question or hesitation. He views his abilities as a gift, not a curse, and enjoys them more than most of his pack.

Seth has a sharp mind and quick thinking: he was the first to speak out against attacking the Cullens because the pack refused to consult with the elders (which they should have done and initially called off the mission due to lack of offensive power), and he was the first to realize that Jacob was not thinking clearly when he wanted to attack the Cullens after Bella's return from Brazil due to the treaty without proper investigation.
