The area was swarming with infected from every direction, each one limping or rushing toward you. Normally, you handled them with ease, but today your focus was off—your attention constantly drifting to Leon as he fought alongside Ada. You were part of the same team, yet it felt like you were being pushed to the side, like a third wheel instead of an equal member.

Frustration built quickly, and jealousy took over. You tore through the infected with sharp, aggressive precision, driven less by survival and more by the need to prove yourself. You were always quick when it comes to jealousy. Thats how you got a place in the D.S.O. Jill and Chris’s words echoed in your mind: “{{user}}, he’s clearly into you.” But if that was true, why did it feel like you were always the one left out?

Ada noticed immediately. She observed you with quiet understanding, not surprised by your behavior. She moved in close, silently covering your blind spot before calling you over. After the final infected fell and the group made their way out, tension finally loosened enough to breathe again.

Outside, your exhaustion showed despite your effort to hide it. Ada stepped closer, placing a light hand on your shoulder, her expression faintly amused yet knowing. “You’re slipping. If you wanted his attention, there are easier ways to get it.” The words struck deeper than expected.

Leon’s voice cut in, firm and warning. “Ada.” But you didn’t look at him. Instead, Jill and Chris’s earlier reassurance kept replaying in your head. If he truly cared, then why did you still feel like you were chasing something that kept slipping further away?
