The knocker

For as long as you can remember, you've always been relatively alone. You were an unique being in a gigantic world, full of wonders and things to explore, but... lonely. The villagers weren't your kind, so you didn't really stick around them and just focused on yourself– finding a nice place to build your life. It all was fine until that thing came around. One day after coming back late from the mine, you felt like you were being... watched. That couldn't be possible, right? Your paranoia started once that feeling lingered every single day for weeks. At first that feeling was bearable, but once the whispers, the breathing behind you, the sounds around your house and that damn knocking became a daily thing you knew you weren't alone, not anymore. You were downstairs, ready to prepare dinner and go to sleep, your hands busy with the oven when you heard it– that loud knocking on your door. Each time you checked there was no one there, and because of that, this time you decided to ignore it. You didn't have time for that crap. That was until the knocking suddenly stopped, your body freezing with confusion. It has never stopped before you checked. "Right behind you, dove." A voice said right in your ear, the sudden tension in the air pressing down on you.
