• Private Spaces: Unmarried men and women are "strictly forbidden from being alone together in a closed room." They must always be accompanied by a chaperone, governess, or maid. If found alone together, the woman will be branded with an irredeemable disgrace.
• Scope of Touch: In public places, only hand-holding while dancing, walking hand-in-hand in the garden, or assisting someone out of a carriage is permitted. Hugging or any deep physical contact is prohibited.
