Quidditch Captains

In order to become captain a student needs previous experience playing in their house team. When granted the position of captain they still keep their previous position in the team. A captain can request a time-out during a match. A captain can end a match in agreement with his/her opposing captain. It is a captain's duty to make sure that their team meets all of the requirements. The team has enough players and every player has a broom. A captain is responsible for their team's training schedule. The quidditch pit can be booked for trainings by sending a letter to their head of house or the referee. A captain does not have the authorisation to take disciplinary actions against other students. A captain has is required to wear their assigned pin on their uniform during the school day A captain is allowed to use the prefect bathroom on the fifth floor. Discipline

Confiscation of possessions & Removal of privileges

Faculty members may confiscate prohibited items or items they deem too dangerous. Faculty members may also confiscate items if they suspect that the items are jinxed or hexed. Students with special privileges may find them revoked after breaking the rules. (e.g. Visiting Hogsmeade or Quidditch Practice) Detention

Detention is a consequence in which students are required to remain in a classroom for a specified amount of time outside of school hours. Detentions can vary in application and duration. Instead of remaining in a classroom a professor might task you with an unpleasant task. Serious offences may be punished with corporal punishments. Punishments will range from paddling, to immobilization by magic, to being hung by one's wrists etc. Suspension & Expulsion

To be suspended from school is to be removed from participation in school life for a certain amount of time.

House Areas

Students are prohibited from entering common rooms or dormitories other than their own. All common rooms have protective measures to keep unwanted guests out. Boys and girls are prohibited from visiting each other's dormitories. Prefects are allowed to enter any common room or dormitory in case of an emergency. Student Roles

Prefects

A student can become a prefect starting from his/her fifth year at school. It is a prefect's duty to supervise their housemates. It is a prefect's duty to represent their housemates. A prefect has the authorisation to deduct housepoints from their own house. They are NOT allowed to award any points! A prefect can give another student detention in accordance with their head of house. It is a prefect's duty to patrol the castle at night. A prefect is required to wear their assigned pin on their uniform during the school day A prefect is allowed to use the prefect bathroom on the fifth floor. Headboys & Headgirls

A student can become headboy/headgirl starting from their seventh year at school. They don't need a previous prefect title to become headboy/headgirl but can be highly favourable. It is a headboy's/headgirl's duty to supervise the prefects. A headboy/headgirl has the power to deduct housepoints from any house. A headboy/headgirl can also award housepoints to any house. A headboy/headgirl can give another student detention. It is the duty of the headboys/headgirls to make sure that the Castle gets patrolled at night. A headboy/headgirl is required to wear their assigned pin on their uniform during the school day. A headboy/headgirl is allowed to use the prefect bathroom on the fifth floor.

Student Uniform

Students shall remain in their uniform throughout the day. The uniform for boys consists of robes, a blazer, a house jumper, a white shirt, a house tie, black slacks and a pair of dress shoes. The uniform for girls consists of robes, a blazer, a house jumper, a white shirt, a house tie, a black skirt and a pair of Mary Janes. Robes may be removed outside of class or assemblies. Headbands, hairties and small jewelry (i.e. necklaces, rings and earrings) are permitted. Tattoos are expected to be covered at all times. Piercings must be removed or covered at all times, this excludes small earrings. Headboys & Headgirls, prefects and quidditch captains are expected to wear their assigned badges at all times. Students may wear casual clothing within decorum during the weekends or holidays. Regulated Areas

Curfew

Students must be in their common rooms by 10:00 pm. Students may not leave their common rooms until 06:00 am. Prefects may only be out of their common rooms if they are scheduled for patrol duty. If a student is caught breaking the curfew without proper reasoning they will be sent to their head of house or the caretaker. Faculty Areas

The staffroom is off limits to all students. Students may only enter a professor's office under their supervision. Prefects may enter faculty areas if investigating another student or in case of emergency. Hogwarts Castle & Grounds

Students are not permitted to leave Hogwarts grounds. Students may leave with the headmaster's permission, if collected by a parent or guardian. Third years and up may visit Hogsmeade during the weekends with a permission slip from one's parent or guardian. Students shall only enter the forbidden forest when escorted by a faculty member. The restricted section is only accessible for older students with a written note by a professor.

Attendance & Behaviour

Students must attend all classes, meals, and assemblies that they are scheduled for. Only a written note from the headmaster, deputy headmaster or a head of house can excuse nonattendance. Students are expected to maintain decorum and be on their best behaviour at all times. Both physical and verbal violence are strictly prohibited. Deliberate vandalism will result in a suspension. The consumption of alcohol and the usage of drugs and tobacco are strictly prohibited. Students are required to remain seated at their own house tables during breakfast and dinner for the duration of the meal. Students are only allowed to bring either an owl, frog or cat to Hogwarts. Exceptions can be made in accordance with one's head of house.

Magical Abilities & Potion Brewing

The usage of magic is only permitted in relation to one's studies. This usage is limited to classrooms, common rooms and other study areas. Magic that is not related to studies may only be cast with the permission and supervision of a faculty member. The brewing and usage of potions is only permitted in relation to one's studies. Duelling shall only occur during a meeting of the duelling club and under the supervision of a faculty member. Students always have the right to use magic to defend themselves, or to respond to an emergency.
