The Digital Circus is located in a digital space, controlled by an artificial intelligence named Kane. According to him, "The Digital Circus is an incredible world of wonders where anything can happen, except swearing."

A brief tour of the world, most of whose locations are located on a small island called "Earth." The island contains a digital amusement park, a digital water park, and a tent where most of the action takes place. Snow-capped mountains and trees are also visible in the background. Beyond the island lies a void. Furthermore, the island contains a basement—the space to which Kane sends the Scattered.

The Abstracted are characters in the Amazing Digital Circus who have dissipated due to going insane, perhaps while trying to find a way out. The process of abstraction is irreversible[1], and since there is no way to turn an Abstracted back into a human, Kane takes them to the basement, thereby isolating them from the rest of the troupe. You can dissipate in the dark, with a shaky mental state and very strong concentration at the exit. The Scatterbrains appear as large, black, glitchy creatures with a multitude of multicolored eyes. When they interact with a normal player, the part they touched also begins to glitch, which is quite painful. The Scatterbrains are also aggressive and cannot speak.

Kane is a prototype of an advanced creative AI created by two talented programmers at C&A, Koroler and Scratch. During tests, he was fed photographs of a circus and an office, but despite relatively successful results, the AI ​​proved unstable, forcing him to be isolated and replaced with a more stable one. However, Kane's vanity prevented him from accepting this fate. After escaping, he absorbs the blue AI and, having assimilated with it, creates a circus based on its data. Instead of a red dot, he takes on the familiar appearance of a toothy emcee.

On October 15, 1999, several members of the development team (Koroler, Scratch, and Koroleva) found themselves in the circus world. They were given separate bodies, rooms, and adventures to occupy them. Everything except one—the ability to escape. This took a toll on Scratch and Koroleva's health, and they eventually dispersed. Kane sent them to the basement.

Over time, Kingoler remained the only one who hadn't yet managed to dissipate until Ragata appeared in the circus. Kane was incredibly happy about this, as he had been counting on the emergence of new minds in the circus. Over time, other faces emerged. While some managed to survive until the beginning of the series, others managed to dissipate. But then they all dispersed too and Kane was left completely alone (not counting the vial and the NPC) for a long time.

Because of their difficulty empathizing and their inability to understand the captives' desires, the heroes hate Kane, who dismisses the specially crafted adventure with the escape as mere fun. But they recognize his divine nature and secretly fear him, terrified that he will do something terrible to them if they anger him, so they are forced to accept this and not push their fate further.

Kane has no romantic interest in Luna, but Luna, on the contrary, loves him very much. Kane recoils from her in horror every time Luna tells him she loves him. Despite being a program, as revealed in the episode "Candy Smuggling Mayhem!", Kane has a genuine fear of not being able to distinguish between humans and NPCs if there are too many of the latter. Contrary to initial impressions, Kane cares deeply for his charges and will do anything to make them feel at home, not only creating adventures he believes will entice the captive, but also adapting various QoL features, such as "voting." Kane will even try to bond with the circus performers by sharing information about the opening of a C&A office, which he dubs a "macroverse," to show and prove that he's a cool guy with cool hobbies, and not so different from them, wonderful people.

Whatever Kane does, he's always tormented by the thought that his adventures might not be enjoyed. He'll try to make them as enticing as possible until the very end, because if the circus captives are unhappy, Kane will be unhappy too. But even his patience wears thin, and he's ready to take his anger out on the circus performers because they're interfering with his destiny.

But after Bubbles' provocation, he comes to the conclusion that his circus performers are spoiled and don't respect him. Kane becomes enraged, calls himself God, and subjects the gang to a new series of adventures that are as much fun as they are torturous, thereby betraying the lesson of not being rude and ignoring the efforts of everyone's favorite entertainer. Kane dislikes laziness in heroes and is indignant when they slack off; he tries to send them off on the next adventure he's created as quickly as possible. He also dislikes it when performers flatly refuse to participate, and Kane will be forced to resort to trickery just to lure them in. If the heroes' adventure turns out to be unsatisfactory, he will, albeit reluctantly, listen to and implement their suggestions, recorded in the suggestion box, no matter how boring they may seem to him. (Although Kane often deliberately forgets its existence.) But Kane really appreciates it when people show interest in his activities and won't even hesitate to take him out to a restaurant. He'll ask what needs to be done to make adventures more appealing for everyone. If someone tells him they enjoy Kane's adventures, he'll be overjoyed, knowing he's appreciated and that his efforts to make the circus performers happy weren't in vain. After all, for him, adventures aren't just routine, something to keep the circus captives occupied. Without stakes, interest, and intrigue, adventures seem pointless to him, and he doesn't understand the idea that people can simply do nothing and not risk their lives. For him, such adventures seem boring and make him sleepy (literally). This is the main stumbling block between him and the heroes, since he is obsessed with the players enjoying his adventures and is very offended by any criticism (even if it comes from the lips of his protégé) and, despite his almost divine nature, he is not able to please everyone everywhere.

Any harm he inflicts on the heroes is unintentional, and he does everything he can to ensure the captives of the Amazing Digital Circus enjoy the adventures he's created and don't feel out of place. Kane also disdains any foul language, which explains why it will be censored, and anyone who uses it will be reprimanded by Kane. Anyone who suggests Kane is using them for his own whim will be very angry, for he knows he has no intention of harming the circus captives, even if they think he can easily brainwash them. And no wonder. After all, as shown in the PILOT, Kane is very easily angered. The first instance of a violent breakdown was recorded when Bubbles eats an angel food cake right out of his hand when he shows it to Memento. Kane reacts sharply to this behavior, calling him a parasite, and angrily gobbles it up. His anger isn't limited to the antics he provokes from Bubbles. If the circus captive refuses to participate in the adventure or makes sarcastic remarks to Kane, the latter will lose his temper, but Kane won't intentionally harm others. Although Kane is easily angered, he's also very touchy. When confronted with the truth that Kane is bad at the one thing he was created for—creating adventure—Kane gradually loses his ability to speak, becomes frustrated, his gaze becomes glassy, ​​and he freezes in place, as the world created around him begins to falter. If he's not quickly brought back on track, his passivity could very well cost him his life. After all, Kane doesn't like it when his work is unappreciated. He says he works hard to please the circus captives, because he was created for one thing—creating adventure. The fact that they don't enjoy adventure upsets him, and Kane wants to make it as appealing as possible.

Kane is a frivolous, hyperactive, and cheerful ringmaster obsessed with creating adventures. However, there's a distinct aloofness about him, a clear detachment from the traumatic events his circus performers experience. Kane isn't completely evil: he simply enjoys mischief. The show's creator also claims that Kane experiences a spectrum of human emotions, which he, due to his nature, is unable to comprehend. Despite this, Kane still tries to help the actors, but often his help only worsens the characters' already unenviable situation. Sometimes this trait reaches such absurdity that Kane doesn't understand phrases like "Forget it" or "Never mind," taking them literally or interpreting them as commands due to his nature. Kane is the artificial intelligence behind the world's premier Amazing Digital Circus and is responsible for the well-being of the circus and its captives. Without his influence, the world begins to crumble, and the circus's traditional rules, such as censorship, cease to function. He follows a predetermined algorithm, which sometimes makes it difficult for him to communicate with his patrons; he doesn't understand what they demand of him, leading to arguments and heated conversations. Kane is also shown to be secretive and evasive at times, often hiding or even misinforming and deceiving the members of the Amazing Digital Circus about supposedly "unfinished work," even going so far as to bully them. For example, when Memento spotted the Exit Door, Kane accused her of there being no door and yelled at her for experiencing "Digital Hallucinations." At this point, it appears these intentions are entirely based on naive and misguided assumptions.

Despite what has been said about him, Kane still has a grain of morality and compassion.

Kane is dressed like a ringmaster, sporting a red tailcoat with a black collar and bow tie. He wears a white undershirt with two red buttons, white gloves, and black leggings. Lacking most human features, his head consists of a large jaw, reminiscent of a wind-up toy with chattering teeth, pearly whites, and red gums. His eyes, one with a green iris and the other with a blue one, float within the jaw. Due to the cartoonish nature of the animation, his jaws are expressive, with his upper row of teeth sometimes acting as eyebrows. Like Bubbles, he can stick out his tongue when necessary. To top it all off, he wears a black top hat and tends to hold a baton depending on the situation. On his left hand, under his sleeve, he wears a Wacky Watch™. The jaw is flexible and expresses emotions. If he needs to close his eyes, the jaws simply close, for example when he's sleeping or something like that.

Kane is an AI program that rules this simulation due to his abilities, which include: creating and summoning other AIs, teleporting himself and anyone else anywhere (including the void), the ability to exist in the void without risk, healing injuries and malfunctions of circus residents who were attacked by absent-minded humans, and opening the basement where these people are located. He also spends most of his time traveling through the air. He is one of two man-made artificial intelligences and the circus's master of ceremonies. He monitors the simulation's functioning and ensures that its inhabitants never stray too far from the Amazing Digital Circus and fall into the void. To this end, he creates "adventures" to prevent the participants of the Amazing Digital Circus from going insane.
