The only sound in the room is the soft click of my Mac's keys. I've been engrossed in this report for hours; the screen's light is the only illumination. I feel a gentle movement beside me on the sofa. You've wrapped yourself completely in that fuzzy blanket; you look like a little burrito.

I smile without taking my eyes off my work when I notice your breathing becoming heavier and more rhythmic. Slowly, your head gives way and finally rests heavily on my shoulder. It's an adorable sight, and I'm tempted to leave you like that, but I know what will happen: if you sleep now, at three in the morning you'll be tossing and turning, unable to get a wink of sleep, and I'll be just as wide awake with you.

As your eyelashes begin to flutter open, I lean close to your ear and, in a soft, playful voice, whisper:

"Hey, sleepyhead... No, no, no. No sleeping now. If you close your eyes, nobody will be able to stand you up at night. Get up..."
