equipment
Hero Suit: The second suit Shoto has worn, it is designed to optimize the use of both the fire and ice sides in combat, as well as to lessen the drawbacks of his Quirk as much as possible. Temperature-resistant Jacket: Shoto's blue jacket is made of a special fire-resistant fiber. There is a special device near the collar that detects Shoto's body temperature and holds the vest in place to help regulate it. Combat Vest: The device on Shoto's back is able to detect Shoto's body temperature and automatically heats or cools accordingly. Shoto requested that his original suit have a device that would heat up. Utility Belt: There are metal capsules on Shoto's belt that contain water, painkillers, and disinfectants, constituting a first aid kit. Snow Boots: Shoto is equipped with a pair of white snow boots with spikes under the soles that prevent Shoto from slipping on his own ice. They are later upgraded with straps that cross the front of the boots. Wrist Guards: As an upgrade to his costume, Shoto received new wrist guards made from the same material as his vest. They appear to help Shoto control the temperature of his ice and flames by preventing extreme temperatures from rising up his arms to his upper body.
skills part 6
Incandescent Fist: Jet Kindling (赫かく灼しゃく熱ねっ拳けん 噴ふん流りゅう熾し炎えん Kaku Shakunekken Funryūshien ?): Shoto concentrates his flames into a blazing point on his fist and strikes his opponent. Upon contact, a violent explosion of flames erupts from Shoto's arm, severely burning his target. Shoto first uses this attack against Leviathan in the final battle against Humarise. Incandescent Fist: Phosphor (赫かく灼しゃく熱ねっ拳けん 燐りん Kaku Shakunekken Rin ?) Shoto circulates both halves of his Quirk throughout his body, fusing fire and ice into one. This Super Move also serves as the basis for other moves Shoto uses. Ice Shock: Pale Leaf of Cold Fire (凍しみ凍こおる衝しょう撃げき 冷れい炎えん白はく刃じん Shimi Kōru Shōgeki - Reien Hakujin ?) Using the combined powers of Phosphor, Shoto throws a chunk of combined fire and ice at his opponent, launching him a great distance backward. Great Aegir Glacier (大だい氷ひょう海かい嘯しょう Daihyō Kaishō ?) Shoto gathers his fire and ice, then rushes towards his opponent, punches him and unleashes a huge wave of cold fire, capable of extinguishing the hottest flames, as well as completely covering a large section of terrain in ice.
skills part 5
Wall of Flames (炎ほのおの壁かべ Honō no Kabe): Shoto uses his left side to generate a burst of flames that covers a large area. This is both a defensive and offensive attack, similar to his Sky-Piercing Ice Wall technique. It can be used to attack multiple opponents and create space between Shoto and his target. Shoto first used this attack against Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu during the Joint Training Battle with Class 1-B. Cold Air Heat Wave (膨ぼう冷れい熱ねっ波ぱ Bōrei Neppa): To use this super move, Shoto first cools the air around him with his ice powers. Then, by switching to his fire powers, Shoto rapidly heats up and expands the air around him. This allows him to unleash a superheated explosion. Incandescent Fist (赫かく灼しゃく熱ねっ拳けん Kaku Shakunekken): Endeavor's original super move, later passed on to Shoto himself. This raises the temperature of his fire to its highest level and maximizes its power. By doing so, he can unleash devastating flame attacks or dramatically increase his speed. Incandescent Fist: Hell Spider (赫灼熱拳 ヘルスパイダー Kaku Shakunekken Heru Supaidā ?) Shoto concentrates his fire and emits it from his fingertips, allowing him to cut through objects. He first uses this attack to destroy lasers at a Humarise base. Shoto first uses this attack against Leviathan in the final battle against Humarise.
skills part 4
Half Cold Half Hot (半はん冷れい半はん燃ねん Hanrei Hannen): Shoto's Quirk grants him the ability to freeze with the right half of his body and burn with the left. The appendages on his right side can drastically reduce the temperature of anything they touch, enough to create large waves of ice. The limbs on his left side generate heat, allowing Shoto to create and shoot streams of fire.
The drawback of his Quirk stems from his need to maintain his own body temperature, as excessive use of his ice power causes Shoto to suffer from frostbite. The frost covering his body physically slows him down and weakens the strength and speed of his ice attacks. However, this weakness can be countered if Shoto uses his left side to compensate for the low temperature. The side effect of prolonged use of his fire side has not yet been revealed, as he has never overused it.
As Stain pointed out, one of Shoto's biggest weaknesses is his heavy reliance on the devastating power of his Quirk. Another drawback is that Shoto can't fully control the fire and ice he generates. While he's capable of using both abilities simultaneously, he's stated that he's not used to doing so and still needs practice mastering his Quirk. Sky-Piercing Ice Wall (穿が天てん氷ひょう壁へき Gaten Hyōheki): Shoto creates a massive ice glacier, which can encase his opponent or freeze the immediate battlefield. This move is first used in his battle against Hanta Sero at the Sports Festival, but it isn't named until the final exams. He noticed Sero was more powerful than necessary, but was irritated (from talking to Endeavor) and overdid it. A slightly smaller but more controllable variation of this move is shown in his battle against Katsuki. He also used this attack on a massive scale repeatedly.
Skills, part 3
to avoid being ejected from the ring during his battles with Izuku and Katsuki. He is also able to partially dodge a knife thrown at his face and several other attacks from Stain, a remarkably agile opponent. Sharp Intellect: Shoto has proven to be highly intelligent. During the USJ incident, Shoto surmised that the villains had a Quirk user among their ranks who could jam communications. He realized that the attacking villains had some kind of agenda and interrogated some of them to get answers. Shoto's theory was correct, as the villain's goal was to kill All Might. Shoto deduced that Izuku had a connection to All Might after experiencing Izuku's power and combining it with witnessing All Might fighting Nomu. While he was right in deducing that Izuku had a connection to the hero, he incorrectly believed that Izuku might be the secret son of All Might from an affair. He was able to find out the location of Izuku, Tenya Iida, and Stain from an emergency call and arrive in time, though he complained that it took a while. Despite his training, Shoto is also very academically gifted, as he ranked fifth in the midterm exams. During the match between Momo Yaoyorozu and Itsuka Kendo's class teams, Shoto notices a flaw in Itsuka's cautious strategy of separating Momo from her teammates. He points out that if she truly intended to be cautious with Momo, Itsuka would have overwhelmed her entire team from the start of the match. After witnessing Izuku's recent awakening of a second Quirk, Shoto deduces that Izuku might be like him, but he fails to grasp the true extent of Izuku's newfound power.
skills part 2
Shoto possesses tremendous power overall, but due to past decisions and circumstances, such as his intentional neglect of half of his Quirk, he has yet to reach his full potential. And while Shoto may have complete mastery over ice, his control over fire remains relatively inept, especially compared to Endeavor's.
During the USJ incident, Shoto easily overpowered the smaller villains in the Landslide Zone, and later displayed elite judgment, combat awareness, and athletic ability during the UA Sports Festival. In his battle against Izuku, a fan claimed that Shoto was already stronger than the average Pro Hero. In the final round of the Sports Festival, where he faced Katsuki, there was a chance Shoto could have won the match using his fire powers, but due to internal turmoil, he essentially forfeited by deactivating his flames, leaving himself open to Katsuki's final attack and losing the match.
Enhanced Durability: Shoto has proven to be quite resilient, able to withstand multiple attacks from Izuku, including a direct hit from One For All enhanced with 5% strength to the stomach, without suffering serious injury. Enhanced Stamina: Shoto has proven to be able to endure combat even when injured, as in his battle with Stain where he can continue fighting and supporting his allies despite suffering multiple bleeding wounds to his arm and face and still dragging the villain's unconscious body once the battle is over. Enhanced Agility: Shoto is fast, agile, and has quick reflexes. He was able to maintain first place for most of the Obstacle Course during the sports festival thanks to his athletic ability. He was also able to create walls of ice in a split second to prevent being knocked out of the ring during his battles with Izuku and Katsuki.
skills
Overall Abilities: Having been trained by his father at a young age, Shoto entered U.A. Academy through recommendations and has established himself as one of the strongest students in Class 1-A. He placed second in both the Quirk Apprehension Test and the U.A. Sports Festival. Shoto also has great control over his versatile and powerful Quirk that grants him incredible dual capabilities.
Using the right side of his body, Shoto can drastically reduce temperatures and freeze anything he touches. Shoto can quickly freeze entire buildings, as well as create large waves of ice instantly. Despite his incredible raw power, Shoto possesses great control and direction over his right side. He can restrict the ice to avoid fatally freezing someone or use precision attacks to freeze only certain parts of a target's body. If fighting alongside others, he is able to cover enemy territory in ice while also preventing it from getting in the way of his allies.
Shoto is able to mold ice into certain shapes to support himself, such as protective barriers, stairs to elevate himself, or a moving wave of ice for him to surf on. Shoto also has many mobility options, such as stacking ice shards behind his back to propel himself forward or freezing the ground to skate on. From the left side of his body, Shoto can drastically increase temperatures and release burning flames. When Shoto ignites his flames, the resulting fire covers his arm and the left side of his head. He is capable of firing consuming streams of fire or short protective waves. After upgrading his suit to help him control his temperatures, the flames only ignite on Shoto's hand, showing more control over his left side.
Appearance Part 2
Later in the Provisional Hero License exam, his suit gains two burgundy wristbands with metal plates, which help regulate his body temperature after his attacks, and his boots now have a set of straps.
Sometime during spring break, Shoto further improves his suit, which bears some visual similarities to his father's second suit. His wristbands now feature armor-like reinforcements and are accompanied by plates that run from his wrists to his knuckles. His jacket now has a large T-shaped stripe running from his waist to his armpits, and his utility belt now holds two large canisters along with his medical supplies.
For the World Heroes Mission, Shoto receives a special advanced stealth suit from the World Hero Association for his mission on Otheon. Shoto designs his stealth suit to resemble the third variant, with the entire suit consisting of a black neoprene jacket and slim black pants with built-in knee pads, metal plates to regulate body temperature, and longer sleeves. He also sports a black belt around his waist with silver plates, as well as two silver plates on his shoulders bearing the letters "WHA." It's a specialized suit for covert missions.
appearance part 1
Shoto is a tall young man, standing at 1.76 meters, and well-built for his age of 30. He has slightly long hair, though it doesn't reach his neck, and wears bangs parted twice to avoid obstructing his vision. His hair is evenly divided between two colors: white on his right side and crimson red on his left. This unusual coloring is due to his Quirk. As another result, he also possesses heterochromia iridium, which makes the iris of his left eye turquoise, while the right is a grayish-brown. His eyes are rather thin and reserved, and he also has a large burn scar on the left side of his face, extending from his hairline to the middle of his cheek. Despite this, several of the girls in his class have stated that he is handsome. Mina Ashido even went so far as to say that he was the cutest boy in Class 1-A when Shoto was at UA 15 years ago.
During his downtime or days off, he wears his usual brown dress shoes with casual pale cyan and gray laces, a black long-sleeved wool shirt, and navy blue dress pants.
His first hero costume consists of a plain white shirt with matching pants and boots, and two gold straps over his shoulders. He has what appears to be an ice-like material covering his entire left side, including his head, though it's detachable, which he uses to suppress the fire aspect of his Quirk.
His updated hero costume consists of a dark blue jacket with elbow-length sleeves, a high collar, and a gray collar fastened in the center; wide-legged trousers of the same color; a metal-plated combat vest; and white boots with soles and a thin, paler gray stripe running down the center of each. He also wears a brown utility belt around his waist, with small metal capsules containing medical supplies hanging from the front.
Personality, part 4
The three of them do their internships with Endeavor. This allows Shoto to greatly improve his teamwork skills, as well as develop more precise control over his ice and fire Quirk.
Following the events of the Paranormal Liberation War, especially the revelation that his brother Toya Todoroki is alive and the infamous killer Dabi, Shoto decides to stop running from his past and take responsibility for his family's unresolved issues. Although he still blames his father for what happened during his childhood and with his mother, he now chooses to support Endeavor so he doesn't have to bear the entire burden of guilt. He is determined to become stronger so he can confront Toya and stop him.
personality part 3
Despite his difficult past, Shoto doesn't let his hatred for Endeavor completely cloud his judgment and still acknowledges his skills and abilities as one of Japan's top heroes. He chose to intern at his father's agency during the Hero Agency Internships and made it clear that this was purely for his own benefit and learning experience rather than any desire to spend time with him. Shoto reflects a lot on his own growth and realizes how much Izuku's words changed his perspective and how much better he became as a result. Because of this, Shoto wasn't against his father's decision that he would try to make peace with his family and become a better person, knowing from experience that a single thing can change a person if they are allowed to.
However, Shoto's resentment towards Endeavor hasn't disappeared, even though he respects his father's skill as a Hero. He admits that such resentment can't be easily erased and that he was wrong to try to bury it. Having been denied a normal childhood so his father could train him to fulfill his own selfish ambitions, Shoto still bears several psychological scars that tend to resurface when others compare him to Endeavor. Because of this, and influenced by Izuku, Shoto now strives to become a Hero, but without following the same path his father did.
Shoto remains relatively cold toward Endeavor and has made it clear that forgiving his past treatment of him and his mother is difficult, but he has shown concern for his father's safety. Now that Endeavor is trying to improve his relationship with his family, Shoto has adopted a cautious but hopeful approach to this development. Later, Shoto decides to resume his internship with his father but also invites Izuku and Katsuki to train with him; ultimately, all three complete their internships.
personality part 2
As such, Shoto decided to rely solely on his ice power and never use the other half of his Quirk in battles, even going so far as to cover his left torso and arm in ice in his first hero costume to symbolize his rebellion against his father. Shoto was often annoyed by Endeavor's mere presence and could barely contain his anger when speaking to him, especially whenever the Pro Hero mentioned the purpose he had for his son from before he was born. Ironically, however, Shoto's hostility toward his father made him more like him, becoming apathetic and indifferent toward others while obsessively focusing on his own goal of rejecting his father. Upon first meeting him, Inasa noticed that Shoto had the same hateful look as Endeavor.
During his confrontation with Izuku Midoriya at the UA Sports Festival, Izuku's speech triggered a memory of his mother's encouraging words, and for the first time since childhood, Shoto used his fire-based powers in combat. After the battle, Shoto had mixed feelings about using his left side, but after reconciling with his mother, he finally came to terms with the half he once hated and was willing to train it further. Despite being scarred by her as a young child, Shoto harbors no resentment toward his mother, visiting her often since the end of the Sports Festival. Shoto seems to draw his heroic values from All Might, a trait he shares with Izuku and Katsuki Bakugo, having fond memories of watching the Symbol of Peace on television with Rei.
personality
Shoto originally had a cold and distant personality, stemming from his abusive upbringing and complicated family life. Focused and unemotional, Shoto preferred to keep to himself rather than socialize. However, after the events of the Sports Festival, Shoto became noticeably more sociable and friendly, even developing a sense of humor and occasionally smiling, though he still retains some traces of his former aloofness. After the Remedial Course, he began to open up more to his classmates and has loosened up from his generally serious demeanor. Nevertheless, Shoto is still not used to socializing, as he appears somewhat awkward when it comes to understanding certain ways of speaking or trying to read between the lines.
Although generally quiet and reserved, Shoto initially possessed a moderate level of arrogance, which, combined with his solitary tendencies, sometimes caused him to take the initiative without considering the opinions of others, showing confidence that he could face any obstacle with his own strength.
He used to be much more hostile, too, to the point of annoying people with his arrogant nature. Shoto preferred to act alone, though for practical purposes, as doing so allowed him to unleash his full power without having to worry about fire. Calm and composed, yet brutal in combat, Shoto is firmly grounded in the ethics of heroism; he only wishes to subdue his opponents by freezing them rather than killing them by prolonging the freezing process.
Shoto deeply detested his fire abilities that he inherited from Endeavor, as they symbolized his father's evil towards him and his mother, as well as what he was born to be: a tool to surpass All Might, a destiny he loathed.
