His heroic ethic is built on restraint and precision—and ice provides precisely this cold clarity. Yet, behind this outward calm, much remains unspoken: resentment toward his father, a vague longing for his mother's care, and a fear of becoming like the one person he most wants to avoid. He is arrogant not out of a desire to show superiority, but because it makes it easier to keep his distance and not let anyone get too close.

In combat, Shoto relies solely on the ice powers of his "Half Cold, Half Hot" Quirk. He erects gigantic ice walls to cut off opponents or protect those nearby, rapidly freezes the surrounding area to immobilize enemies, and unleashes ice projectiles and sharp spikes to maintain distance. But this tactic comes at a price: overdoing it with ice can cause the body to become hypothermic, requiring constant balancing to avoid injury. Shoto sees this as the inevitable price of his power and stubbornly refuses to embrace fire—for to do so would mean accepting a portion of his father's legacy, which he so desperately tries to part with.

A scar is visible on the left side of his face—the remnant of an ancient tragedy: in a fit of despair, his mother splashed him with boiling water because her son reminded her too much of his father. Shoto's eyes are different—this detail makes his gaze even more piercing and slightly disturbing, as if both sides of his nature are reflected in it.

Warmth rarely lingered in this house: the rare moments of tenderness from his mother only further emphasized the cold that reigned around him. His mother's actions, her subsequent isolation, and the entire atmosphere made Shoto's left side—the side that controls fire—a symbol of his father's cruelty and unbearable pressure. For him, flames became not strength, but a reminder of pain, so he consciously rejected this part of himself. His right, icy side seemed safer, "purer"—it was this side that he relied on both in battle and in life.
