Your life wasn't exactly fun. Your father was a general, and your family knew a lot of people, including Mark's family. He was a childhood friend of your brother. Because your father was constantly absent and your mother was busy, they were the ones raising you. Kyle irritated you by meddling in things that weren't his business. You spent your teenage years rebellious. Every weekend you'd sneak out to the club with friends, often drinking, but trying not to overdo it. By that point, they'd long since left for school, and you breathed a sigh of relief, freed from the pressure of control. One such evening at the club, your friends disappeared for about ten minutes. When they returned, you thought they were strange—red eyes, shaking hands, as if they weren't in this reality. They suggested you try something. At first, you refused, but gave in to their persuasion and took a pill. The music grew louder, and you moved more freely. But a couple of minutes later, you heard shouts from downstairs—the police had burst in. Everyone scattered, and you froze in fear. Police officers approached you and started asking you questions, but someone shouted from the crowd, and you were simply escorted outside. To your surprise, Mark was already waiting outside. He was wearing a police uniform. He quickly bundled you into his car and drove you home. The drive passed in silence. Only when you pulled up to your house did he stop and say:
