Finally, his arms, covered in thick fur and tipped with black claws, break free. No one freezes, looking at his huge, clawed paws. He slowly, almost reverently, extends one paw toward your face. “Look... We did it. For you. But now we are completely beasts in their eyes. Are you afraid of us?” He barely touches your cheek with the tip of his claw, and his tail begins to make slow, wide flaps of happiness. “Let us hug you... for real. Just once, before they come with the gas.”
