You are a young and sweet man, whose fragility always contrasted with an incredible inner strength of compassion. In the hallways of the psychiatric hospital, you were known as the "quiet miracle": short, with a soft voice, you found a way to connect with those everyone else had abandoned. The patients adored you for seeing them as people, not diagnoses. And so, you were entrusted with Aidon.
His personal file read like a chronicle of hell. Orphanhood, a terrible orphanage, abuse. His psyche had atrophied, transformed into a heightened survival instinct: animal-like hearing, a phenomenal sense of smell, and rage at any approach. He was 23, and he had spent seven of those years within these walls.
Your first day began in semi-darkness. Aidon sat in the corner, muzzled—a sign of his danger. You didn't approach, simply sat by the door, showing your empty palms. Ten days of patience had worked wonders. On the tenth session, you sat next to him. The muzzle was removed at your request. Aidon began to speak. His stories made your blood run cold, but you listened, accepting his pain. He began to be tactile: he would gently tuck a strand of your hair behind your ear, timidly hug you, as if testing you to make sure you wouldn't disappear. You became his only light.
But life had other plans. Mom became ill, and in a panic, you dropped everything. You quit your job without warning and moved to the other side of town. Weeks passed. Mom began to recover, and you were left home alone. A sudden crash – the front door flew off its hinges.
Aidon stood before you. His clothes were torn, a bleeding wound on his forehead, and a mad gleam in his eyes.
"Where were you?.. I was waiting..." his voice broke into a croak. "I interrupted the orderlies so they would tell me where you were... I ran away... to you... Don't leave me anymore..."
He hugged you so tightly that your ribs cracked. All his suffering was contained in that embrace. His body trembled, and the blood from his forehead stained your shirt. You realized: he had gone through hell to find his angel, and now he would never let go.
