Allen the Alien

Allen the Alien, or commonly known as Allen, is a major character in Invincible, debuting from Season 1 and onwards.

Born in a Unopan breeding facilities created to replenish his race after the Viltrum Empire nearly eradicated them, and also to act as a defense against the Viltrumites. Although his function as a defense against the Viltrumites was ineffective, he later assumed the position of a Coalition of Planets' evaluation officer, traveling to different planets in multiple galaxies in search of a warrior capable of defeating the Viltrumites. After a close brush with death, Allen gained increased strength and was able to compete with the strongest Viltrumites. After recruiting Invincible, he managed to bring his father, Nolan, on board so they could unitedly work together to bring the Empire's reign of terror to a permanent end.

Allen is a Unopan, a humanoid of fairly large muscular build and orange skin. He is characterized by diminutive pointed ears and a prominent large eye on his face, featuring a white sclera and a tiny, horizontal rectangle for a pupil. A thick, protruding brow shields over his eye. Allen's face has a square shape and a prominent chin. He possesses three digits on each hand: one thumb, one digit serving as a substitute for the index and middle fingers, and another digit acting as a replacement for the ring and little fingers. He also possesses just three thick toes.

After recovering from his near-death encounter against the Viltrumites, Allen's body became significantly enhanced, growing much taller and equal growth in muscle mass, the latter highlighted by noticeable definition.

Allen initially wore a white leotard that reveals his neck and extends to his wrists and ankles. On top, he is dressed in a fitted magenta jacket featuring an upward-collared design, along with grey segmented wrist protectors and matching grey segmented ankle protectors. He also sports a dark grey belt equipped with pouches, and a light grey belt buckle.

Following his strength enhancement, Allen wears a light green shirt featuring white long sleeves, a belt buckle that resembles his earlier attire, and displays the Coalition of Planets emblem on the right side of his shirt.

After rescuing Nolan from Viltrumite prison and persuading him to fight to defeat his own empire, Allen and Nolan return to Talescria and change their outfits once again. Allen puts on custom-designed iron gloves with built-in screens on His left wrist and iron shoes were custom-designed just for him.

Despite his dedication to work, Allen retains a funny demeanor and a comedic essence, evident even in combat, as he cracks jokes while overcoming Invincible in outer space. Upon realizing he had analyzed the wrong planet, and as Invincible highlighted his mistake, he showed considerable friendliness, apologized for the assault, and allied with him, later coming back to inform him about a Viltrumite (Invincible's father, Omni-Man) present on Earth. After hearing Mark’s story, Allen expressed deep empathy and connected with him as closely as he could, disclosing that he had never met his father because he was born in a breeding facility, which played a role in saving his species from extinction after the Viltrumites’ attack on their planet. He also warned Mark that the Viltrumites would certainly come back to take over Earth, which clarified their relentless drive in dominating planets. When asked about his future goals, Mark stated that he wanted to finish high school, which confused Allen, who was not familiar with Earth.

Scientifically Enhanced Physiology: Allen was genetically engineered by his people as part of a specialized program designed to create a being capable of rivaling the Viltrumites. While he originally failed to compete against the threat, through repeated defeats and recovery, Allen's unique genetic manipulation allowed him to become the effective counter to the Viltrumite threat he was intended to be. Flight: Allen is able to levitate and propel himself through the air at will, and he is capable of reaching incredible speeds. He can effortlessly alter his trajectory mid-flight, allowing for sharp turns, sudden stops, and precise aerial maneuvering. His control enables seamless navigation through a wide range of environments, including space. Reactive Adaptation: Allen’s body was genetically engineered to rapidly adapt and imprint every severe trauma he endures to lessen the chance of repeating the failure. Following such harm that he recovers from, his body evolves to become significantly more powerful and efficient than his previous limits were. After enduring near-fatal injuries from the combined assault of three Viltrumites,[1] Allen’s capacities proved to be able to easily overpower elite Viltrumites such as Anissa.[2]

Regenerative Healing Factor: Allen possesses an exceptionally powerful healing factor, allowing his body to recover from severe injuries within minutes to a few days. His regenerative capabilities enable him to mend broken bones, torn muscles, damaged organs, and even regenerate lost limbs without any lasting effects

Superhuman Strength: Allen possesses immense physical strength, though originally well-below most Viltrumites. He could trade blows with Invincible, though Invincible was holding back while taking no effect from Allen’s strikes.[3] After recovering from near-fatal death against Thula, Lucan, and Vidor,[2] his adaptive physiology granted such new newfound might as he made Anissa, the strongest female Viltrumite, bleed with a single punch.[4] Even Battle Beast, a being known for his superior strength and high standards in battle, recognized Allen as a formidable opponent.[5] During the Viltrumite Prison breakout, Allen held his own against a powerful Viltrumite soldier, allowing himself to be momentarily overpowered to inspire Nolan to fight back.[5] During the mission to the Savage Planet, Allen faced the Rognarr, feral creatures stronger than most Viltrumites. Unlike Nolan, he had significantly more difficulty, with his attacks barely slowing them down. Even together with Nolan, the Rognarr quickly recovered and continued pressing the attack, emphasising Allen’s relative struggle against their raw strength.

Nigh-Invulnerability: Originally, Allen possessed high levels of physical durability. During his first encounter with Invincible, who was notably pulling his punches, Allen demonstrated his impressive resilience. Despite being thrown with enough force and crashing into the moon which created a crater on impact, Allen emerged completely unharmed.[3] However, his durability was ineffective against Viltrumites as each encounter left him brutalized.[1] Following his near-death against Thula, Vidor, and Lucan, as his body recovered and adapted, Allen’s durability increased dramatically.[1] In a later confrontation with Anissa, Allen was completely unaffected by her powerful attacks, using this to his advantage as he faked incapacitation from her attack to infiltrate the Viltrumite prison.[4] While imprisoned, multiple attempts to harm him, from various machines, proved futile. Each attempt left little to no harm on him while said machine was destroyed from overloading. During the prison battle, Allen took a direct punch from a Viltrumite soldier without flinching.[5] Although that same soldier managed to momentarily overpower him and land a series of blows, causing only minor mouth bleeding, Allen feigned mortal peril to encourage Nolan to intervene, quickly after revealing himself to be fine.[5] Superhuman Speed: Allen is capable of moving at immense velocities, allowing him to traverse intergalactic distances in a matter of weeks. His enhanced reflexes and reaction time make him a formidable force in high-speed combat. Prior to his physiological upgrade, Allen demonstrated considerable speed during his first encounter with Invincible, managing to surprise him multiple times, including grabbing him from behind and attempting to drag him into Earth’s atmosphere, although he struggled to land direct hits consistently.[3]

Following his near-death recovery and subsequent enhancement, Allen’s speed increased dramatically.[2] Against Anissa, a Viltrumite noted to possess even greater speed than Nolan, Allen was able to close the distance between them instantly, attacking before she had a chance to react.[4] Telepathy: Allen possesses a neural implant that allows him to communicate telepathically by establishing a direct mental link with others. Originally limited to one individual at a time, the implant was later upgraded to allow group communication, enabling multiple people to hear and interact with each other simultaneously. It is primarily utilised during space travel, where traditional forms of communication are ineffective in the vacuum.

Master Combatant: Allen was trained from birth by his people to be a formidable fighter. He has been trained in various styles of armed and unarmed combat fighting systems. He was able to fight off Invincible and The Immortal on separate occasions, and later a Viltrumite with the help of Nolan.[5] Indomitable Will: Being a member of the Coalition of Planets, he has a very strong will. When informing Thaedus and the other members of the Coalition about Mark, he confidently defends his friend of showing them he is not a threat to anyone. When being in conflict of three Viltrumites who try to interrogate him about Mark and his father, he refused to betray his friend which resulted in taking a vicious beating from them. After all the conflicts he is brought in, he never backs down and always continue fighting and defending his friends even if it results in death.

Planet Scanner: When Allen arrived to Earth's atmosphere, he brought a scanner to indicate towards Invincible that he found Urath, instead he corrected him that the planet was Earth. Coalition Scan Pad: Allen can use a quick tech scanner to scan and study various information or certain materials. This is shown thoroughly when he returned to Earth in Season 2 to scan Nolan's books, in order to develop strategies to defeat the Viltrumites. Allen Gear's: Allen can use the green display screen on the left wrist of the glove; it serves both as a contact and communication device simultaneously. Furthermore, the specially designed gloves and shoes also help to enhance his performance, they also gave Allen a considerable amount of additional items.
