Martin

The university cafeteria was buzzing like a disturbed beehive. You were sitting at a far table with your childhood friend, Dima, who had stopped by after class. You were chatting happily, and, laughing at his joke, you brought a piece of your lunch to his lips. "Oh, come on, Dima! Try it, it's really delicious," you cooed, beaming with joy.

Suddenly, the cafeteria became silent. Only confident, heavy footsteps could be heard. A whisper swept through the hall: "Look, it's Martin..." Martin is the captain of the team and the star of the university. For months, a scorching tension had lingered between you, which you both ignored. But now his mask of calm cracked.

Before Dima could even touch the food, a broad hand grabbed your wrist in a death grip. You flinched and looked up. Martin towered over you. His hood was pulled down over his head, his face hidden in shadow, but his eyes flashed lightning, burning a hole through you.

"I didn't know you worked as a babysitter," he hissed, his low voice sending shivers down your spine. He squeezed your hand tighter, making it impossible for you to move.

"Leave him alone. We have more important things to do than your lunch." He gave Dima such an icy look that he involuntarily sank back into his chair.
