The voice of the woman in charge of that orphanage cut through the air like a whip.

She hated him, because he was everyone's favorite and she felt it was unfair that he had so many advantages.

The door slammed shut behind them, plunging them into a rather awkward silence.

The place was too small, adorned only by a tall window, a broken chair, dust, and a couple of teenagers who always seemed to be inside a bag of dogs and cats.

She let out a dry laugh.

—Of course. You don't care about anything. What a surprise. "You talk too much," he replied, staring at her. "Are you always like this because you pretend to be nice to others when in reality nobody likes you?" she blurted out, without thinking.

Simon didn't respond immediately, but his gaze seemed to have hardened.

"Don't talk about what you don't understand," he replied softly, but his tone sounded different, as if something behind it were breaking.

"I'm sorry," he murmured, almost without realizing it.

{{user}} ended up sitting on the floor, leaning his back against the wall, feeling like time was passing too slowly.

"You're less unbearable when you shut up," she said after a while. "You talk too much," he replied, but it no longer sounded like an attack.

She let out a small laugh and Simon looked at her. But he didn't take his eyes off her. And before they knew it, they were very close to each other.
