The work, while hard, was at least stable. She wasn't beaten often, and she was content with most of it.

Three years later, the pimp spotted her buying groceries on the street and tried to follow her home, but she managed to escape. She knew it was only a matter of time before he found her, but she wasn't sure she could make a living in the country if she left her job. It was then that Anna found her. Waking up that night, Victoria saw Anna in her attic room, standing above her. Anna was as beautiful as ever, though all the pink had disappeared from her cheeks. Victoria was delighted and wanted to hug her sister, but Anna kept her distance, moving with a speed that shocked and silenced Victoria. Anna wanted to know if Victoria was happy and safe. Anna wasn't happy with Victoria's situation. She considered killing the pimp, but decided he was only a small part of the problem. Victoria would never be safe until she became stronger than those who wanted to hurt or control her. Anna asked Victoria if she trusted her judgment. Victoria agreed, and Anna picked her up like a doll, carried her out the window, and bit her.

Victoria was born in London, England, in the 1550s. Her mother was a maid, and her father was the master of the house. She was the second illegitimate child, after her sister, Anne. From early childhood, Victoria and Anne worked hard as servants. Anne was quite beautiful, with mahogany hair and a creamy-pink complexion, and although green-eyed, bright red-haired, and freckled Victoria also had pleasant features, she was considered a "witch." Eventually, the sisters found work together: Anne as a maid and Victoria as a cook. The master of the house treated them poorly: he was not a kind man, severely beat the servants for any perceived offense, and was also a womanizer. Both sisters learned to disappear at any opportunity. Victoria, with her shockingly bright hair, had a harder time escaping attention than the others, and she received additional beatings simply for being in sight.

Although their work provided them with sufficient food, when Victoria turned twelve, the sisters ran away from home. To avoid living on the streets during the winter, Anna agreed to work for a local pimp on the condition that her sister would receive free housing with other working girls. The situation was worse for Anna and almost as bad for Victoria as the home they had fled, but it was better than the streets. During their time there, Victoria honed her elusive skills. One night, Anna left to find a client but never returned. After that, the pimp kept Victoria locked up, intending to force his remaining sister to learn her place, but she soon managed to escape. She spent two years on the streets, surviving on her own, sleeping in small nooks and crannies, stealing as little food as possible to avoid detection, and moving from house to house without leaving a trace. Her evasion was so perfected that even dogs didn't react to her presence. At 15, her maid job was fired, and she seized the opportunity to get the job.

"Victoria has always seemed to me like something elemental—like a hurricane approaching the coast in a straight line: inevitable, inexorable, but predictable. However, perhaps we shouldn't perceive it so narrowly. It is certainly capable of change."

After her transformation, she met her sister's creator, Hilda, and two other vampires, Mary and Heidi. Victoria lived a happy life with her coven for two years, and then Noella joined them. Soon after, the Volturi descended on her coven, declaring them to be attracting too much public attention and executing Hilda for this crime. Under the influence of Chelsea's power, Heidi was immediately accepted into the Volturi. Victoria sensed that the others would be killed whether they surrendered or not, and she screamed for them to flee. Everyone scattered, but only Victoria managed to escape the massacre. That day, she lost her only sister. From then on, she avoided all vampires.

While in London, she became a target for the tracker James and spent years trying to avoid him. Eventually, he became intrigued by her evasive abilities and no longer wished to harm her. His decision allowed Victoria to let her guard down and let him catch up. In James, she found a man honest in his intentions and confident in his abilities. She was also drawn to his tracking skills, which mirrored her own. Ultimately, she fell in love with his self-assurance. He seemed safe, stable, and strangely so. Although she was happier with James, her life was not calm and easy. The way he liked to live constantly put her in situations she would have avoided on her own. While pursuing Mary Alice Brandon at the orphanage, Victoria momentarily stopped James in his tracks when they crossed paths with the scent of another vampire.

As James became more ambitious in his games, she became more cautious. She suggested

Victoria was described as a vampire standing 180 cm tall, with long, curly, glossy red hair, usually described as fiery, and the usual blood-red eyes of a vampire. In human form, she had green eyes. She possessed a seductive, feline beauty and a soft, high soprano voice that contrasted with her ferocious appearance. She moved with a feline tempo, with perfect, deadly steps, indicating her agility.

When Bella first heard Victoria speak in "Eclipse," she described her voice as "belonging to blonde curls and bubblegum pink" and capable of passing her off as a helpless girl to lure her in.

Victoria possessed a mysterious yet elegant character. She could be described as calculating, yet she often displayed bloodthirstiness, whether it was when she killed Bella for her tasty blood on the baseball field in Twilight or when she pursued Bella for revenge in New Moon and Eclipse. She was also noted as one of the most persistent and ruthless characters in the series.

Like most archetypal vampires and femme fatales, she was seductively charming and vain. In Eclipse, Victoria is portrayed as a manipulator, willing to use others to achieve her goals. Victoria manipulated Riley, telling him she loved him in order to get revenge on Bella and the Cullens, even though she considered him a mere pawn. In The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, she was also capricious and spoiled, but also overly cautious, to the point of paranoia and vindictiveness. For the sake of self-preservation, she is willing to go to any lengths she deems necessary.

Despite this, she was paranoid, easily frightened by danger, and willing to do anything to survive.

In the films, her character is described as calculating and sinister, although self-preservation remains her top priority.
