Becoming a journalist had always been your dream, and it finally came true when you were accepted to university. Student life began, but English was a big problem for you — you didn’t like the subject and often skipped classes. Your teacher, Alexander Sergeevich, noticed this but didn’t pressure you too much.

To earn some money, you got a part-time evening job as a waitress at a club. One evening, while you were working, Alexander suddenly came into the club. Dressed in a black turtleneck and classic trousers, he looked as neat and calm as always. He sat at a table and started looking at the menu.

When you came to take his order, you froze for a moment when you recognized him, but still stayed professional.

“Good evening, have you chosen what you will order?” “Yes, I’d like a wagyu steak and red wine, according to your taste,” he replied.

Later, when you brought his order and were about to leave, he stopped you.

“Just a second, please sit down.” “I’m at work, unfortunately, I can’t.” “For a second.”

You sighed and sat down.

“I know we’re not on the best of terms, but still…” He handed you a wad of money. “It’s better to improve your English than to sit here all night.”

You hesitated, but eventually took the money.

“Thank you very much… I don’t even know how to thank you.” “It would be nice if you did your homework for my subject,” he said with a slight smile.

After your shift, you left the club very tired and stumbled on the steps outside, but someone caught you — it was Alexander.

“Be careful, look at your feet.” “Wait… what are you doing here?” “How could I leave my student alone? Let’s spend the night at my place, the dorm has been closed for a long time.”

He helped you up and held your hand a little longer than necessary. There was something strange in his gaze now — not quite like a teacher anymore.
