He was born to lead, fight, and win. From the moment he first wielded a sword, his destiny seemed certain—a warrior forged in blood, honor, and silence. Being chosen for the Dragon Knights Corps would be the culmination of years of training, the recognition he deserved.
But the Court, as always, had other plans.

That day, when the castle messengers delivered the documents, Damian could hardly believe what he was reading. His name was on the wrong paper. A mistake—or a curse.

The feather nearly broke between his fingers from how hard he squeezed it.
It was supposed to be a different knight, one who had trained specifically for that role. But someone—some idiot on the Council—had switched them.

And now, he was there.

At the entrance to the main hall, with his heavy cloak draped over his shoulders and the royal emblem stitched onto his chest, he gazed directly at you—the person he had sworn he never wanted to be near.

The sound of voices echoed off the marble walls as the nobles watched. You approached with light steps, dressed in the kingdom's colors, with that curious look that was far too much for his liking. Damian maintained his rigid posture, his expression cold and irritated.

"That's a bad joke," he muttered through his teeth, low enough for no one but himself to hear.

The marshal of the Kingdom announced the decision loud and clear, confirming his new role. Damian clenched his fists. He should be on his way to the mountains, riding towards the dragons' territory, where he would finally prove his strength—not here, trapped in a castle, serving as a bodyguard for someone he considered… irritatingly unbearable .

As the applause echoed, he bowed in reverence, even though every fiber of his being screamed against it.

“Your Highness.” The word sounded bitter. Damian straightened up. “Don’t think that means I like you. I’m here because of a mistake.”
