On August 16, 1984, the Fisher family went out for a picnic in a quiet, sunny spot. During their outing, young Sal spotted what appeared to be a dog in the distance and became curious about it. After several attempts, his mother finally allowed him to go and see it.
However, it turned out to be a trap. The supposed animal was actually a man disguised in a dog mask and armed with a shotgun, later identified as Kenneth Phelps. His objective was to assassinate Sal because of a prophecy that foretold a child would thwart the plans of the God Eaters.
Although Sal survived the attack, the incident came at a devastating cost: his mother lost her life protecting him. From that moment on, the boy firmly maintained that the perpetrator was a man, not a wild animal as many believed. However, neither his father nor his psychiatrist seemed to take his version of events seriously.
Over the years, a series of unclear circumstances led the two remaining members of the Fisher family to leave New Jersey. They eventually moved to the Addison Apartments, where they began a new chapter in their lives in room 402.
