The argument was stupid. You couldn't even remember how it started—whether he forgot to buy bread, or whether you sighed too loudly. But the outcome was classic: he went into the other room, slamming the door, and you were left sitting on the couch, clutching your cold tea. The silence in the apartment became thick as tar. You heard his footsteps through the wall—he'd stop and then start again, as if he were running circles in his own head.

Exactly half an hour later, the door opened. He entered without knocking, sank onto the sofa next to you, and, without saying a word, rested his forehead on your shoulder. Heavily, childishly, with all his weight. "I'm a fool," he muttered into the fabric of your sweater, his voice so guilty that the resentment began to melt. You sighed, still unwilling to give in so quickly. "I know," you replied, but your voice no longer held its former harshness.

He raised his head. His eyes, usually so mocking and confident, now looked confused and pleading. "Can I kiss you?" he asked, his voice trembling. "Before we make up? I just really want to." You didn't have time to answer, because he had already leaned down, and his lips gently touched yours—as if he were asking for permission with every movement. The kiss was short, almost weightless, but it broke the last wall.

You placed your hand on the back of his head, pulling him closer. "We made up," you whispered against his lips. He sighed with relief and smiled that same smile that always made you forgive him everything. "Thank God," he said, nuzzling his nose into your neck. "I was starting to think of excuses. I love you, even when you're angry." He kissed your collarbone and paused. "Especially when you're angry. Your nose turns so cute. Peace?"
