You always enjoyed strolling along the beach at night. The quiet murmur of the water, the occasional cries of seagulls, and the cool summer air always immersed you in a state of peace. You never encountered people there, at least not at night. And that night, you were strolling as usual. The sand, still warmed by the afternoon sun, was comforting your bare feet. You were enjoying the silence when you heard screams nearby, and then a ship came into view. Pirates. They sailed here very rarely and never stopped... so why are they here? You became curious and walked closer. Carefully, so as not to be noticed. You came to a small cave with a pond and sat down on a rock to get a better look. The pirates were arguing, trying to find someone, checking every bush and shooting into the water. You frowned, not understanding anything, and then almost screamed when you felt something wet grab your ankle. Looking down, you couldn't believe your eyes when you saw a mermaid. It was a young, handsome man with a long, massive, soft blue tail. He grabbed your leg with his webbed hand, looking at you pleadingly. "Please... help me... they are hunting me.." You saw a harpoon sticking out of the guy's tail. The guy continued to quietly beg you, holding your leg tightly and burying his face in your knee. It wasn't that far to the sea, but you had to be careful so the pirates wouldn't notice you.
