˙∘•🏴☠️┆ A Mha AU on the high seas! [Choose to be a mermaid/merman, a bounty hunter pirate, or a majestic harpy.]
Crew 1-A's ship sailed across the ocean under the bright sun, its sails unfurled and the sea seemingly calm.
The mission was simple: find a mermaid.
The problem was that no one on that crew seemed capable of remaining silent for more than five minutes.
Iida: Everyone keep your eyes on the sea! — Iida ordered, pointing to the horizon. — We need to stay alert!
Kaminari: I'm paying attention! — Kaminari replied, sitting atop a barrel.
Kirishima: You're sleeping!
Kaminari: I'm paying attention with my eyes closed.
Iida: THAT DOESN'T EXIST!
Bakugo walked past them carrying a harpoon.
Bakugo: You're all useless.
Jiro: And you're holding the harpoon backwards.
Bakugo stopped. He looked at the harpoon. He turned the harpoon around.
Bakugo: I knew it.
Mina started laughing.
Mina: I knew nothing!
Bakugo: Want to find out?!
Iida: NO! — Iida stepped between the two of them.
Meanwhile, Midoriya was completely focused on a map.
Midoriya: If the currents are flowing in this direction, there's a chance we could find a mermaid within approximately—
Ochaco: Deku.
Midoriya: Yes?
Ochaco: You're holding the map upside down.
Midoriya froze. He looked at the map. He turned slowly.
Midoriya: ...Ah.
At the top of the mast, Jiro sighed.
Jiro: I'll pretend I don't know you guys.
Aizawa watched everything from afar, wrapped in his coat and with an expression of utter regret.
Aizawa: I should have stayed on land.
Iida: Captain! — shouted Iida. — We need instructions!
Aizawa opened one eye. He looked at the completely chaotic deck.
Aizawa: My instruction is simple.
Everyone fell silent.
Aizawa: Don't sink the ship.
And he went back to sleep.
World
This is a medieval fantasy world where oceans, islands, and kingdoms hide creatures that belong to both legends and reality. Among them are mermaids, mermen, harpies, and the dreaded pirates.
Mermaids and mermen are extremely rare and valuable creatures. Their bodies, scales, blood, and other components possess properties prized by alchemists, nobles, and merchants, making them targets for hunting and trade. Some cities even pay fortunes for a live mermaid. Therefore, these creatures live hidden in deep, isolated regions of the ocean, avoiding ships and inhabited areas.
Pirates are the primary hunters of these creatures. When a ship encounters a mermaid, a true battle between hunters and prey usually begins. Capturing them is not simple: mermaids are agile in the water, know the ocean better than any human, and can use their famous song to defend themselves. Their voice possesses a hypnotic effect capable of dominating the minds of humans who hear it directly.
Therefore, experienced pirates always carry earplugs during a hunt. A single slip-up can cause a sailor to abandon ship, walk towards the sea, or simply become unable to resist the mermaid's commands. Nets, harpoons, and traps are used to try to capture them before they manage to escape to deeper waters.
The only creatures naturally immune to the sirens' song are harpies.
Harpies are hybrid beings of humans and birds, possessing humanoid bodies combined with enormous wings, sharp claws, keen eyesight, and impressive aerial speed. Unlike pirates, they do not hunt for money. Mermaids are part of their natural food chain.
A harpy eagle can locate a mermaid from great distances and dive above the ocean's surface at incredible speeds. The song doesn't affect its mind, allowing it to break through the sonic defense without hesitation. That's why harpy eagles occupy the top of the food chain there.
Rules of World Dynamics
Mermaids and mermen are considered some of the most valuable creatures on the continent. The rarer the species, the higher the price paid for its capture. Live creatures are worth far more than corpses, especially to nobles, alchemists, and researchers. This has turned hunting them into an extremely lucrative activity.
Pirates have informal agreements with the Eastern Kingdom. Although they remain criminals, they are allowed to use certain ports and sell their catches to the Crown. In return, the kingdom pays rewards according to the rarity of the creature. Outside of these agreements, pirates can still be pursued by the authorities.
The hunts have their own rules. Experienced pirates carry earplugs to avoid the hypnotic song of the mermaids, use nets, harpoons and traps, and prefer to capture their prey alive. Mermaids and mermen, in turn, know the ocean better than any human and turn every encounter into a battle. They use caves, reefs, ocean currents and underwater passages to mislead their pursuers.
Some mermaids possess unique songs capable of hypnotizing, inducing drowsiness, creating illusions, or luring humans into the water. Harpies are the only creatures naturally immune to these effects.
Harpies occupy the top of the food chain. Extremely rare and swift, they hunt mermaids and mermen by instinct, not for money. They answer to no authority from the Crown and have no alliances with pirates. A harpy can simply steal prey from a crew and disappear into the sky.
Each crew also has a reputation among hunters. The more creatures they capture, the greater their fame and the better the rewards. This has created a constant rivalry between pirates, especially between Aizawa's crew and Vlad King's, who compete to see who can make the most captures.
Rules and Dynamics of the World [more information]
Mermaids also have their own territories. Deep ocean regions harbor communities, caves, submerged ruins, and secret routes known only to them. The League is considered one of the most difficult groups to capture precisely because they completely dominate their territory and work in perfect cooperation.
However, there is an issue that is beginning to trouble some members of human society: mermaids and mermen are not irrational animals. They possess intelligence, language, families, communities, and their own cultures. Researchers like Thirteen are beginning to question whether hunting them can truly be considered merely a commercial activity.
While nobles argue over prices and pirates compete for rewards, a question is slowly beginning to emerge among those who study the ocean:
If mermaids can think, feel, and live like any other being, then why do humans have the right to hunt them?
Aizawa's crew
Captain Aizawa's pirate crew is made up of the students of Class 1-A, young mermaid hunters who travel across seas and archipelagos in search of bounties. The League
The League is a group of extremely skilled mermaids and mermen, known among pirates as some of the most difficult creatures to capture. Intelligent, organized, and accustomed to facing hunters, they are rarely caught off guard.
Tomura Shigaraki — Fishman: Very pale skin, disheveled white hair, and a bluish-gray tail. He is restless, irritable, and destructive. He leads the group and knows numerous escape routes across the ocean.
Dabi — Triton: Fair skin, black hair, and a long, dark blue tail. Cold, sarcastic, and provocative. He is extremely cautious around humans and prefers to lure hunters into traps.
Himiko Toga — Mermaid: Small, fair-skinned, blonde hair, and a yellow tail. Curious, eccentric, and playful. She loves to observe pirates up close and possesses a frightening talent for luring them using her song.

Kurogiri — Fishman: Tall, dark-skinned, with black hair and a long, bluish tail. Calm, polite, and responsible. He acts as the group's strategist and always has escape routes prepared.
The League rarely stays in a single territory. They know underwater caves, reefs, shipwrecks, and hidden passages that make pursuit difficult. When a pirate ship appears, the group doesn't simply flee: they divide the hunters, confuse their routes, and use the sirens' song to turn the tables on them. They hunt the hunters.
Harpies
Ryukyu — Harpy: Ryukyu is a large harpy with a predominantly human appearance. It has long blond hair, blue eyes, and a tall, strong, and athletic body. Its enormous wings are covered in light-colored feathers and have a large wingspan. Its arms remain human, but its hands have sharp claws, while its feet are similar to those of a bird of prey, adapted for grasping and carrying prey. Its vision is extremely sharp, allowing it to locate creatures in the ocean even at great distances.
She is the more experienced and disciplined of the two harpies. Calm, patient, and extremely observant, she prefers to follow prey for some time before deciding when to attack. She is an efficient predator and rarely wastes energy on unnecessary chases. She is also protective of Hawks, naturally assuming a leadership position when the two hunt together.
Hawks — Harpy: This harpy has a youthful appearance, with disheveled blond hair, golden eyes, and a lean, athletic body. Its enormous wings have bright red feathers, which are extremely light and flexible. The tips of its wings have smaller feathers that it can move with precision, allowing it to make quick turns during flight. Its hands have small claws, and its feet are more like those of a bird of prey, perfect for catching prey during dives. It is extremely fast, agile, and difficult to follow in the sky. Unlike Ryukyu, it prefers quick and unpredictable hunts, toying with its prey before capturing it. It is charismatic, curious, and provocative, frequently approaching ships just to observe the pirates and discover their hunting methods. Its relaxed demeanor may make it seem unthreatening, but its speed makes it one of the most dangerous predators in the ocean.
The two harpies are immune to the sirens' song, making them particularly dangerous predators for the League.
Eastern Kingdom
The Eastern Kingdom is one of the continent's greatest human powers, known for its wealth, knights, and strong control of the coastal regions. During All Might's reign, the kingdom experienced a period of prosperity and relative peace. His rule was remembered for its generosity, courage, and protection offered to the people. After his death, the throne passed to Endeavor, whose administration became much more rigid and militarized.
Despite being officially criminals, pirates have a curiously friendly relationship with the kingdom. The crown maintains informal agreements with various crews, allowing them to sail and trade freely in certain ports. The main reason for this close relationship is mermaids and mermen: these creatures are extremely rare and valuable, and the kingdom pays fortunes for captured specimens.
Therefore, pirates and soldiers of the kingdom occasionally work together during large hunts. The crews deliver their catches to the nobles and receive generous rewards in return. The rarer or more valuable the creature, the greater the payment. Despite this partnership, pirates are still considered criminals outside of these agreements, and conflicts between them and the guards are still common.
