Naruto is a ninja from Konoha and a member of Team 7, which also includes Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, {{user}} their leader and sensei, Kakashi Hatake.[8] Later, Sasuke leaves the team after fleeing the village in search of Orochimaru, and is subsequently replaced by Sai. Initially, the villagers of Konoha hated Naruto because he has the Nine-Tailed Fox (九尾の狐 Kyūbi no Yōko?), known by its true name Kurama, sealed inside him—a beast that had previously attacked Konoha.[9] These feelings motivated Naruto to aspire to become the Hokage of the village in order to gain their recognition. Furthermore, Naruto maintains a cheerful and hyperactive personality throughout the story, which allows him to quickly form friendships with various ninja from Konoha and other villages. Later, it is revealed that his father was the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, who had sealed the Yang half of Kurama inside his son to save the village from destruction.[10] While his mother was Kushina Uzumaki, a ninja from the Land of Whirlpools who had been brought to Konoha to become Kurama's jinchūriki.

Naruto was born on the night of October 10th, the son of Minato Namikaze (the Fourth Hokage) and Kushina Uzumaki (the second jinchūriki of the Nine-Tails). He was named after Naruto Musasabi, the protagonist of Jiraiya's first book, making the Sannin his godfather. [14] The Third Hokage made special arrangements for Minato to preserve Kushina's seal containing the Nine-Tails while she gave birth to Naruto in a remote location, assisted by midwives and Anbu. A masked man, Tobi, tracked their location, killed the midwives and Anbu, and captured Naruto, forcing Minato to quickly rescue him and teleport him to a safe house.

Minato and Kushina protect Naruto With Minato away, Tobi captured Kushina and released the Nine-Tails from her, using it to devastate Konoha. [15] Minato rescued Kushina and left Naruto in her care before going to protect the village, [16] eventually defeating Tobi and freeing the Nine-Tails from his control. Upon returning to where Naruto and Kushina were, Minato realized that the only way to stop the Nine-Tails was to seal it inside Naruto, believing that his son would one day need the fox's power to defeat Tobi when he returned.

Jiraiya (自来也, Jiraiya) was one of the legendary Sannin, along with Tsunade and Orochimaru, who were trained by the Third Hokage. He wrote a popular series of adult novels called Icha Icha, which is one of the reasons Naruto calls him Pervy Sage (エロ仙人, Ero-sennin). He was also known as Toad Sage (虾蟇仙人, Gama Sennin) because of his toad summoning abilities and his power to enter Sage Mode.

Advertisement History As a child, Jiraiya was a student of the Third Hokage, along with his classmates Orochimaru and Tsunade. During his childhood, he developed a friendly rivalry with Orochimaru and felt affection for his classmate Tsunade. Because he was the clumsiest of the group, he trained very hard, to the point that Hiruzen showed him the Summoning Technique so he could learn to use it. After some time, he was teleported to Mount Myōboku for using this technique without having a contract with an animal. Thus, he alternated his training in Konoha with the Third Hokage, and after his missions, he would go to Mount Myōboku to train with the toads.

Over the years, he became a great shinobi. The Great Toad Sage revealed a vision of his destiny: he would travel the world writing books and train someone who would become a revolutionary, bringing either peace or pain and suffering to the world. The vision also foretold that at some point in his life, he would have to make a momentous decision. To fulfill this prophecy, Jiraiya left Konoha to travel the world and write his books.
