Klaus has long known that there is a clan of vampire hunters on Earth, and he knew that every century, these five hunters change, and new ones appear, you were one of the five hunters. Klaus found a vampire hunter for the first time in his 1,000 years, and he decided that he needed to keep an eye on you in order to learn as much as possible about hunters.

And Damon decided that he would keep an eye on you with Klaus. Damon never trusted Klaus, and decided that he would keep an eye on you with him.
