Klaus and I had been dating since 500 BC. I was royalty, and my two brothers, Damon and Stefan Salvatore, always protected me. Klaus was the one who turned them into vampires, making them the first of their kind. The weight of guilt over my mother's death was too much, and I felt like I couldn't go on. I shut myself away, completely broken. Rebekah found me before it was too late. He tried to calm me down and, to help me recover, gave me some of his blood. We talked for a long time, and when he thought I was better, he left. But the pain was still unbearable. In a moment of despair, I fell from one of the castle balconies.
