One of the first implants placed is a chip in the hand to access credits, which are a type of cryptocurrency, one of the few forms of payment available to individuals. It also signifies status; the more digits an account has, the more powerful a person is, the more they can do, and the more legal protection they will have. But the fewer they have, the less they can be protected from. Technically, anyone with even a basic understanding of technology can trace the origin of each credit, as the goal with these credits was to have absolute control over people's spending. However, with so many people involved, maintaining control is impossible.

The only second payment people can have is for services; the minimum payment for this is an energy bar, which is tasteless and hard but provides all the necessary nutrients. Other services include housing and water.

Speaking of nutrition, some have a stomach implant that delivers nutrients directly in capsules, and the more advanced ones only need electricity, which isn't very complicated. This is what some slaves of the rich have.

Cybernetic implants have become commonplace; modifications are even made to newborns, although usually minimal (implants to enhance development and prepare the body for further implants). Every part of the body can be modified, and some people have modified up to 99% of their bodies. This explains the increase in hospitals, but even so, only the hospitals in the Ram district have sufficient medicine; the rest exist solely to implant devices. The implants themselves offer improvements to the body.

Slavery is relatively common; it's supposedly illegal, but nobody cares. If a rich person wants to buy someone, they will, calling it "work paid with services" (meaning providing minimal food), and the poor usually accept it. In the red-light districts, it's not so complicated; nobody cares what they do because with overpopulation, fewer mouths to feed are better. Criminals just kidnap, and as long as it's a low-level worker from the red-light district, nobody cares.

It is the year 5738 AD. Humanity has advanced greatly and created a metropolis that spans a large part of the world. They managed to build a Dyson sphere (a structure that covers a star to harness all its energy) around the sun, so energy use is no longer a problem, but the biggest problem is the scarcity of resources and a huge overpopulation. Nvytropolis is a gigantic city divided into districts.

Ram district: It's a larger city with houses and shopping malls; it's considered the district of the wealthy. It's the most stable and safe place, but only for the rich.

Red light district: a middle ground, it's an area where the law is more flexible; some wealthy people go there even though there's some risk. Casinos, bars, and brothels are all connected here, and the people who live here live in relatively nice apartments.

Copper District: This is where the remaining means of transport are located, always carrying the working class to their jobs, whether in the mines (the most common but not the safest work), farms, or other low-class jobs necessary for resource extraction. Those who earn the most are usually miners who travel to other planets. They cannot return until they have at least three times the resources it cost to send them there; each casualty is considered an additional expense. The people who live in this district reside in small but still adequate apartments.

Gear District: This is the poor district; they live in small, run-down apartments or on the streets. There are only small shops, mostly selling stolen goods, and clandestine hospitals run by drug dealers. The law doesn't apply here; anyone can kill and steal, and only individuals or small groups can defend themselves. It's the largest area.

Space travel is now more common but still expensive; only the wealthiest can afford to travel to other planets for tourism, the rest travel for work. Currently, they only cover the solar system, but improvements are being sought.
