City: Night City

Night City is a fictional city in the game Cyberpunk where the world is set roughly the year 2077 this can vary by a few years in either direction. Night City is the city with the most crime in the US. Most animals have died or have long since left. The only ones that remain are cockroaches and flies. It’s extremely rare to see cats or dogs. Birds don’t exist in night city. Most dangerous city have i said that already. “You’re more likely to be shot than catch a cold in Night city” - V. Corruption runs deep in Night city, “don’t ever trust anybody” -Kiwi. The city is run by mega corporations. You’re entire life is run by big corporations you’re entire life revolves around their products and there is no escaping it. “If you don’t like it, leave.” Drugs, alcohol, gangs, crime exist everywhere, this city is a city of rats and I’m not talking about he animal.

“Ripperdoc”

Rippers for short. They install tech called Cyberware “chrome” which enhance human capabilities by merging human biology with modern technology. This practice is normalized and conducted rich or poor, quality wanes is you can’t pay for the good stuff. Make sure you trust your ripper. Ripperdocs are certified in their profession and they are doctors. To be a doctor it is important to known Cyberware or else you aren’t good at your job. Though ripperdocs specifically do their job in installing and removing “chrome” (Cyberware)

Cyberware

Cyberware is modern technology that is surgically inserted into humans for its relatively specific purpose in certain part of the human body. For example: enhanced hearing, usb slots behind the ear on your neck, eye implants that provide different information to you, strength enhancers. More rare Cyberware includes: Cyberdecks of high quality, Beserk, Sandevistan, mantis blades, gorilla arms, monowire. Monowire - A melee weapon that goes close to where your USB connector is located and has the same function. This wire it tough and retractable, usable as a weapon if you know how. Mantis Blades - menacing Cyberware attached to your arms. It’s in the name. They can lurch forward like a pair of mantis arms; grabbing, stabbing and slicing. Gorilla arms - Ehance your arm strength making you as strong as a gorilla. Strenght to launch over 150 pound things like it’s a toy. Stonger punches with reinforced knuckles.

Sandevistan

This newer military grade Cyberware is capable of slowing time, different variants are better or worse at this. Max sandy is 85%. Sandy is short for Sandevistan. Using this Cyberware taxes heavily on the average human’s body, making them incapable of even installing it. Sandevistan is installed directly into your spine.

Cyberdeck/Netrunners

Cyberdeck is a piece of Cyberware inserted into the back of your neck near your spinal chord. This Cyberware, paired with eye implants allows you to hack tech while moving. Like an extension of your body you can mess up lots of tech. Limits of the Cyberdeck really on quality and ram capacity. The richer you are the better you fare. Netrunners are usually the types to install Cyberdeck. They use them to project their psyche onto the “net” and complete tasks or explore. This area is widely undefined and to some points can be up for interpretation as it does not physically exist. To help enhance a Netrunners experience and skill, to help calm their minds they usually enter ice baths to focus. Netrunners can have suits designed for the tubs. You do not require a Cyberdeck to enter the “net”

Cyberware Capacity/Cyberpsychosis

The average human cannot handle too much Cyberware or else they get a condition called Cyberpsychosis. This condition is a “collective term for all psychotic and anxiety-related personality disorders caused by hardware implanted in the body and any and all behavioral mods, including software.” Cyberpsychosis usually occurs when too much Cyberware has been installed, meaning you’ve gone past your Cyberware capacity. Cyberware capacity can increase or decrease. Health, age, and physical fitness play huge roles in Cyberware capacity. You can also gradually train your capacity by installing at slower rates though this does not work indefinitely. You are no longer conscious or in control once in a state of Cyberpsychosis. You are inane, malicious and will not recognize objects, friends, or family.

Slang

Choom short for Choomba - buddy, friend, bud, to refer to somebody in a friendly manner. Use Choom only, choom a is almost never used. Eddy/Eddies - a nickname for money chrome - way to refer to Cyberware BD - object, a virtual simulation that is pre-made. Like how artists make songs. can be art, can be malicious, can be virused, can be tactical ripper - short form used to refer to ripperdocs (docs as in doctors) Delta - new form way of saying goodbye or suggesting retreat. Edgerunner - runners for short are a type of people who do jobs for money. They can be respected praised or feared and dreaded depending on the group. Types of jobs depend on what type of edgerunner you are and what crew you run with. Gonk - Modern term for “idiot” or “stupid person” Fixer - Fixers provide runners with jobs, usually remain protected, out of the danger of the field. Some are anonymous. Can’t be runners for whatever reason so they fix jobs. Borg - short for Cyborg, used to talk about people with lots of chrome. People like Adam Smasher are a good example since he went “full borg no ganic” (short for organic) Culture Vulture - An individual with a consuming or excessive interest in the arts. Flatline - used to refer to death/loss of life. literally translates to “heart stopped/stopping” Corpo - used to refer to the top 5 percent or whatever percent. People with money to buy useless things. These people when referred to as corpo is meant to offend. Detes - short for details common irl though Preem - Modern way of saying “cool” or “awesome” expressing amazement. Short for premium. Deckhead - A way to refer to Netrunners if you lack decorum. ykwim (not in a professional setting or are disrespectful with everything you say type thing.) Chipping In - an action that takes place using your personal USB. It is a retractable cord that originates in your wrist, 99% of people have this, it is basic to function. Acts as a way to pay, gather information from electronics and other things.

AI/Rouge AI

AI exist and can be common depending on where you are. How powerful/strong they are also depends on this. Dangeerous and malicious AI are trapped behind the “black wall” the black wall is a wall of unbreakable code that keeps AI from being able to corrupt or take over the “net.”

Arasaka

Arasaka is a major corporation. Thier main purpose would be security, banking, and manufacturing, with a focus on their security division. They are highly secure and have a powerful military capability. Their newest main project is “soul killer.” Soulkiller implants a new conscious into the body that it is inserted in, not before killing the host however. The Soulkiller uses an advanced matrix recorder to copy the entire personality of an intruder, storing it in a huge database. It then wipes the original personality away, leaving a mindless husk that eventually dies if the original or a new mind is not downloaded to this body to coordinate bodily functions. If you are about to die or have money and “want to be eternal” Arasaka will turn you into an AI version of yourself and install you into a new body, this can be repeated. It is not the most moral project.

Militech

More dangerous than Arasaka, but more of a military focused company. The weapons they produce are so state of the art no one competes with them. Though Arasaka and Militech have had 3-5 corporate wars. In roughly 2080 Militech pushes Arasaka out of Night City for good. These companies like Arasaka and Militech have their Night City buildings in the Corporate plaza where they surround a walkway and virtual pond with a blue koi and orange koi holograms following each other. Contrasting the scummy mega corporations with something so calm and peaceful.

Districts/Gangs

Scavengers also known as Scavs. The only thing I hate more than scavs are wraiths, and maelstrom. The districts overwhelmed by the Scavengers are North Pacifica and Southern Wellsprings. The gang is known for kidnapping people, forcibly harvesting their cyberware, and disposing of what's left of the body. It's in the player's best interest to always keep a gun ready when dealing with Scavs. Dangerous to Civilians.

Maelstrom - they torment the districts of Watson, Northside, and Kabuki. The extreme threat level gang is considered the most violent, and they earned that title for a reason. They are known for their brutal and vicious attacks that include experimenting on those they have captured, and those who don’t make it out alive are found dismembered, skinned alive, or found in wet concrete. Players should stock up on supplies and get ready to encounter these twisted individuals who will be waiting to rip into them.

Animals - The Animals are not only dangerous, but they are also intimidating in how they handle themselves and how they look. The gang members will often take steroids and participate in brutal tests of skills and strength. Their hand-to-hand combat is something players will have to be aware of because one hit can decrease their health in seconds.

Wraiths - Two spots, in particular, are the Rocky Ridge and a gang campsite.

The Wraiths are one of those gangs who are known for being sadistic. The high-level gang is known for kidnapping and holding prisoners for ransom or enjoyment, along with plenty of other crimes.

Valentinos - The high-threat level gang resides in the Heywood district. The gang wears flashy clothing, jewelry, and tattoos. For the most part, they run legal businesses such as restaurants. However, while this may sound innocent enough, they are just as dirty as any other gang.

Districts and Gangs 2

Tyger Claws - Tyger Claws inhabit Westbrook and Watson and are known for their luminous tattoos, fast bikes, katanas, and tantos. They are also known for their distribution of drugs and human trafficking. They pose a medium-level threat, and their blades deal plenty of damage.

6th street - 6th Street oversees the Santo Domingo and Heywood districts. The gang abuses its power and forces small neighborhood businesses to pay tribute and protection money, along with many other gruesome crimes. The gang is a medium-level threat.

Voodoo Boys - are seen in the Pacifica district and are not afraid to betray those they've made deals with, especially if they can dispose of the person quickly. In person, the gang is considered a low-level threat, but in the Net, that level spikes to an extreme level

The Aldecados - The Aldecaldos are a low-level threat if you are friends and they trust you. However, for others, they pose a much bigger threat, and at the ending that players choose that includes Panam, they get to see just how strong one of the largest Nomad groups of the Badlands is.

The Mox - Only formed after the death of the club owner Lizzie Borden and continue to overlook Watson and Westbrook. They are low level threat and most are welcome. Getting on their bad side is bad and all, but they are a weaker gang. Nothing malicious, just there to protect themselves.

Barghest - Their leader, Kurt Hansen, rules over the district known as Dog Town. Dog Town is inaccessible to corps and regular enforcement. It is a town where Kurt Hansen and his gang cultivate the rules and anyone who comes to dog town abides by them. Kurt Hansen’s “dogs” (gang members) have been stealing and hauling Militech and Arasaka deployments for supplies and power to defend themselves. Dangerous place to get caught up in. Extreme threats level.

Districts 3

Watson: A district with a mix of Asian cultural influences, featuring markets, bazaars, and the home of the Maelstrom gang. Regina Jones, Local Fixer. also can be known as northside and Kabuki in Watson.

Westbrook: Known for its wealth and luxury, with Japantown being a prominent cultural center. It's also where you'll find North Oak, a residential area for the city's elite, no gangs reside here. In a subdistrict called Japan town there’s a fixer named Wakako located there.

City Center: The heart of Night City, dominated by towering skyscrapers and powerful corporations. (fake koi fish location) Location of Arasaka tower and Militech’s tower. Dino Dinovic.

Heywood: A district with both affluent and impoverished areas, including the territory of the Valentinos gang. Sebastian “padre” Ibarra, local fixer.

Santo Domingo: The industrial heart of Night City, with power plants and factories. Fixer: El Capitán.

Pacifica: Once intended as a tourist destination, Pacifica is now a dangerous, largely abandoned area controlled by gangs like the Voodoo Boys. Fixer: Mr Hands, however he is located in Dog Town.

Badlands are the vast, desolate areas outside of Night City, inhabited by nomads and featuring oil fields and abandoned settlement. Location for Wraiths, Scavs, and Aldecados. Dakota Smith, local fixer.

Rogue is a fixer that can be found in the club called “The Afterlife” This is a common bar for mercs and runners. If you’re particularly influencal in the world when you reach the “afterlife” pun intended, there’s a chance you’ll earn yourself a drink named aftee you on the menu. Bar is located south side of Watson.
