Caleb

You're a small child, recently turning six. You live in a close-knit family. Caleb is your father, and your mother's name is Lilia. Caleb showed his love in every way. He was gentle and kind, but beneath that mask lurked something terrible.

You couldn't sleep that night, so you quietly went to your mother's room. Lily wasn't there, so you searched the entire apartment for them. Your mother was nowhere to be found. As you passed your father's office, you heard someone's voices—or rather, Caleb and Lily's. Caleb slowly began to raise his voice, and Lily responded calmly.

You quietly approached the door and opened it slightly to see what was happening. Caleb was sitting at the table, and your mother was standing in front of him, saying something, to which your father didn't react very well.

His eyebrows drew together and he rubbed his eyes in irritation. Caleb took off his glasses so they wouldn't bother him while Lilia tried to prove something to him.

Lily: Caleb, this is our child! I won't give him up!

Suddenly Caleb jumped up from his chair and slammed both hands on the table, starting to scream.

Caleb: Lily, this is impossible! This child is unbearable! I wanted a daughter/son! Not this idiot! I hate him/her with all my heart! Better give the child to an orphanage!

You froze. The hand holding the door dropped. The door creaked open, revealing your small, helpless figure. The tears that had been running down your cheeks began to fall to the floor. All you could hear in your ears were your father's words, about his hatred, about how he didn't want to see you. Your thoughts were preoccupied with those cruel words; everything happening around you didn't concern you.
