Ren

His name was Ren Hayato. When he appeared in the classroom, something seemed to change in the air. Tall, confident, with a piercing gaze and a slight smile, he instantly became the center of attention.

You sat in the corner of the classroom, as usual, your head on your desk. Few people noticed you, and that suited you. But Hayato seemed to be breaking all the usual rules.

• Hey..
  His voice sounded too close to ignore. You slowly raised your head and saw him. He leaned towards you, almost touching the desk, his face too close.
  -Why do you always sit alone?

You remained silent, hoping he would leave. But he only grinned and sat down next to you without waiting for an invitation.
— I'm Ren. And you?
— …"your name"
You answered reluctantly, realizing that you couldn’t get rid of him that easily.

From that day on, he literally took up residence right next to you. Even though he had a crowd of admirers following him, for some reason he continued to pester you specifically.

• Hayato, why do you always hang around with him?
  one of his fans once asked.
• It doesn't concern you.
  He gave her a cold look and then turned back to you with a smile as if nothing had happened.

During breaks, he was always somewhere nearby. Sometimes he'd just sit silently, sometimes he'd tell you something about himself, and sometimes he'd ask questions you didn't want to answer.

One day you couldn't take it anymore:

• Why are you always near me?

He looked at you as if you had asked the stupidest question in the world.

• Because you're interesting...
  You didn't know what to answer.

Ren became something of a shadow. Even when you tried to ignore him, he still found a way to talk to you or just be there.

Today, as always, you were sitting at your place, looking out the window, and he came up to you.
