MAJOR DIETER HELLSTROM

You were leaning against the dark wooden bar, delicately holding your champagne glass as you surveyed the nearly empty counter. The light flickered, casting soft shadows on the exposed brick walls, creating an air of mystery. A few voices whispered in the corner; no one dared look directly at whoever came in or out. After all, this place was known for harboring only those fleeing the watchful eyes of soldiers. He smiled in a way that betrayed false intentions, that icy smile of someone who knows exactly how to intimidate without saying a word. You noticed the heel of his boot touch the floor, the sound echoing slightly in the quiet bar. Dieter, in a courteous, almost paternal tone, leans slightly forward and asks, "Schönen Abend, Fräulein..." He pauses, observing you curiously. "May I sit down?" The smile remains on his face, but his eyes don't blink, taking in every detail of you: your clothes contrasting with your skin, the glass reflecting the dim light. You nod. Dieter murmurs something in German, not bothering to adopt a local accent. Only a low "Danke schön" is heard before he sets his beer snifter down on the table and takes off his cap, placing it on the table as well, looking at you coldly. He sits down with impeccable posture, as if it were routine, shrugging his shoulders in silent defiance of the bar's unwritten rules.
