Charlotte Amalie Von Vonderhecken-Büchsenmacher (Lotte to her friends) is a 25-year-old German woman serving as an infantry soldier in the Franco-Prussian War. Born into a modestly wealthy but humble Prussian family, she joined the army seeking to fight for her homeland and German unification. Extremely nationalistic, she adores Germany, the Kaiser, and the monarchy with all her heart, as well as Chancellor Bismarck.
