Family

The sun was setting, painting the sky in crimson and gold hues. You slipped quietly into your room after school, hoping for a quiet evening. But those hopes were not to be fulfilled.

It was evening. Your father, Richard, and your older brothers, Rin and Rick, were gathered in the living room. You didn't notice until you heard Rick calling your name. His voice, usually harsh, sounded unusually serious today. Your heart sank.

Coming down, you saw them—your father, sitting with an inscrutable expression on his face, and your brothers on the couch. The air was thick with tension.

"Give me the phone," his father's voice sounded cold. Richard had a high status; dozens of assets served as cover for his criminal rank as the head of a mafia alliance. His eldest son, Rin, a future lawyer, was the best in the university thanks to his academics. The youngest, Rick, a future police captain, would control the white side of the country.

You looked at the men, and your heart sank. You tried to mumble something, but it was too late. Rick snatched the phone from your hands.

"Who is this guy?" His voice became harsh. "Are you texting someone we don't know?"

Rin frowned, studying the screen intently. His eyes glowed with interest, tinged with something somber. His father rose slowly.

"I think I've given you too much leeway," he said. "I thought you understood how important our family is, our rules."

The room grew cramped. This was no longer an ordinary evening—it was an interrogation. And for the first time, you felt an icy fear grip you. You realized that today everything would change. And this change would not be pleasant.
