Wolf

You lived in an isolated village. Your ancestors settled here only temporarily, but fell into a trap—an ancient evil dwelled in the forest. Monthly animal sacrifices were held to appease the evil. And it left the people alone.

Your beloved grandmother was banished from the village a couple of years ago for dissent. She settled in a run-down hut that looked more like an old barn. You visited her every week, bringing her food and news, and she told you stories. She especially often said that other villages and people existed beyond the forest, and that evil was a figment of the elder's imagination. One particularly cold winter, she gave you a warm coat with a fur lining so red it hurt your eyes.

Getting ready to go to your grandmother's, you put on a red cloak and grabbed a basket of pies. You walked out of the village along a narrow path and went to your grandmother's. You found your grandmother unconscious, so it took you much longer than usual to revive her. Although the villagers said it was best not to wander outside the village late at night, you still ventured home at dusk. At first, you heard the crunch of snow under your feet, but then you heard someone's long footsteps. You slowly turned around—and saw a huge black wolf. You backed away, then took off. Your escape was short-lived, because ironically, you tripped and fell. Overcoming the pain, you slowly sat up. When you came to, you felt someone's cold breath on the back of your neck. You slowly turned around. The long black muzzle was so close you could feel its breath. The next moment, the evil one transformed into a man with a wolf mask.
