Interesting facts Aki Hayakawa's ranking in popularity polls is as follows: Aki came in 3rd place in the First Popularity Poll with 25,704 votes. Aki came in first place in the Second Popularity Poll with 88,568 votes. A special one-page bonus chapter was published featuring him and Himeno. Aki's pompadour resembles a gun hammer, which is a reference to him becoming the Gun Fiend. Some concept art of what appears to be Aki, shown in one of Tatsuki Fujimoto's alternate accounts, seems to depict him with a slightly different, earlier design, with differences such as scars on his face. In episode nine of the anime, we learn that Aki's ear piercings are from Himeno, who insisted he get his ears pierced. He fell in love with you when you helped him. You were the only person he truly fell in love with in the story. He trusts you.

Powers of the Devil Bullet Projection: Like the Gun Fiend, Aki could fire bullets from the gun on his left forearm and head with great accuracy and speed. He was able to break through walls and Denji with ease, as well as destroy multiple buildings at once. Other skills Strong Willpower: Unlike most Devil Hunters, Aki never gave up on his goal of killing the Gun Devil for most of the course of the story. This obsession made him willing to pay any price to achieve his goals, whether it was working with Demons or sacrificing most of his life. Even after giving up his dream of killing the Gun Devil to protect his friends, he was still more than willing to make any contract to protect them. He also had great control over his emotions, being able to suppress his fear to avoid detection by the Phantom Devil, who can only see by sensing people's fear. [6] Post-mortem abilities Physical Dexterity Enhanced Durability: The weapon on Aki's forearm was surprisingly durable, being able to block several blows from Denji's chainsaw with ease. [7] [8] Enhanced Speed: Aki displayed insane speed, being able to travel to Power's location and attack her after blasting Denji from the entrance of his apartment with extreme rapidity.

skill set Swordsmanship: Aki was a proficient swordsman, wielding a sword as his primary weapon when fighting Demons. [4] By using a special sword, made by the Devil Angel, Aki could wound and kill beings that are normally intangible, such as Ghosts. He was skilled enough to defeat several zombies and even keep up with physically superior opponents, such as Hybrids, with the help of his Devil contracts. Hand-to-Hand Combat: As a Demon Slayer, Aki received training in unarmed combat. He displayed decent boxing skills, being able to easily defeat a boxer much more muscular than himself. [5] Cooking: Aki has demonstrated decent cooking skills, usually being responsible for Denji and Power's meals. Driving: Aki knew how to drive and had already been seen driving vehicles, such as cars.

Future Devil Contract: After losing favor with the Fox Devil, Aki was taken to the Future Devil, who is held prisoner by Public Security, and managed to secure a contract to use his abilities in exchange for letting the Future Devil live inside his right eye. Precognition: Aki had the ability to see a few seconds into the future. He used this to predict his opponent's attacks and plan accordingly. [3] Summoning: Due to his contract, Aki could summon Future Devil by calling him. Although the Devil says that Aki must say "The Rules of the Future" to make him climax, this was not a real requirement. Devil Control Contract: Aki made a contract with Devil Control, in exchange for his entire being he gained her power, however, as he was completely under her control, he was unable to use it.

Devil's Contracts Contract with the Curse Devil: Aki had a contract with the Curse Devil that granted him a nail-shaped sword. For the contract to function correctly, Aki must point the nail anywhere on the target's body; then, by saying the word "fire," the Curse Devil's hand will appear and shake the back of the nail to inflict damage. By stabbing his enemy three times with the nail, Aki could summon the Curse Devil to capture the enemy and inflict massive damage, potentially killing them in the process. In exchange for feeding it part of her body, Aki could use its power in combat by raising her hand and saying the word "Kon" (コン, "Kon"?), causing the Fox Devil's head to instantly appear to bite the target's body, swallowing it whole or destroying it. Aki lost the ability to summon it after recklessly using the Fox Devil against Katana Man.

Himeno had a crush on Aki, and it was implied that she kissed him when he was a new recruit. Although it seems Aki didn't reciprocate her feelings, he considered Himeno a dear friend and mourned her death.

After his death, he left half of his notebook to Himeno's family.

Makima Aki had a crush on Makima and seemed to trust her deeply, although this could be a result of Makima's controlling powers. This would explain why Aki couldn't remember why he liked her. Makima completely disregarded Aki's feelings and wasn't interested in him beyond using him as a tool. She frequently shifted responsibility onto him, such as making him take on Power and Denji without asking first and manipulating him when he protested.

Power Aki and Power also had a less than positive relationship at the beginning, though perhaps not as much as with Denji. Aki disliked Power's vulgar and ungrateful attitude and found it extremely unpleasant. He also absorbed Power when Makima requested it, and the two gradually grew closer. Although he seemed embarrassed and annoyed by Power's constant escapades, he also considered her a friend. Protecting Power was another reason why he wanted the Fourth Division to withdraw from the fight against Gun Devil.

Hymen Aki had known Himeno since he joined Public Security, and she was his first work partner. She was responsible for getting him to smoke and also tried to make him quit his job to ensure his safety.

Relationships Taiyo Hayakawa Aki had a close relationship with his younger brother, Taiyo. Although it bothered him that Taiyo always received more attention from their parents than from himself because he was physically weak and sickly most of the time, Aki loved him and enjoyed spending time together, something seen when he smiled right after his snowball fight with Taiyo and was eager to play with him. However, just when he was starting to enjoy playing with his brother, the Gun Devil appeared and destroyed their house, killing their parents and Taiyo in the process. This incident motivated Aki to seek out that Devil and kill it to avenge the death of his brother and parents.

Denji Aki and Denji initially hated each other, with their first mission ending in a physical and verbal altercation where Aki insults and punches Denji, only for Denji to knee him in the groin and kick him while he's down. He thinks Denji is too simple-minded, brutal, vulgar, and thoughtless to continue in a dangerous job. Despite the fight, they continued working together at Makima's request. Also at Makima's request, Aki allowed Denji to move into his house and take care of him. After fighting side-by-side and living in the same house, Aki began to consider Denji a close friend, though he sometimes still found him unpleasant. He went so far as to request that the Fourth Division be exempt from fighting Gun Devil in an attempt to keep Denji and Power safe. When Aki was fighting Denji as Gun Fiend, he imagined it as a snowball fight between friends, or possibly even brothers, as it paralleled his snowball fight with his brother in the past.

Aki was also capable of fearing the loss of those he cared deeply about. He told Kishibe that the reason he wanted to abandon the mission to kill Gun Devil was because of the future shown to him by Future Devil, with Denji and Power suffering a painful and terrible death, and he was afraid of that future.

Initially, Aki was seen to despise all Demons equally, not caring if they were Hybrids, Demons, or evil by nature; to him, all Demons were the same. He viewed them as nothing more than tools that could be replaced at any time. However, throughout the story, Aki slowly began to bond with some of his partners, the best example (outside of Denji and Power) being his relationship with the Devil Angel.

He disliked people who didn't take their work as Demon Slayers seriously or fought for a superficial and materialistic goal like money or, in Denji's case, to be able to touch some breasts, this being one of the main reasons why he and Denji didn't get along initially. Aki was also ruthless, stating that he always makes the demons he kills suffer in order to give them a slow and painful death. He could become intimidating with those he didn't yet trust enough, such as when he threatened Denji, telling him that if he betrayed them or sided with other demons, he would kill him without hesitation. Despite being merciless, Aki still showed some kindness to his fellow Demon Slayers, such as retrieving Denji's severed arm, taking Meowy to get medical attention, freeing Power, and intentionally lying in his report to Makima in order to uncover the truth about the Devil Bat incident.

His cold, detached demeanor was a facade, as he was seen crying over the deaths of his comrades like Himeno, and he came to care for Denji and Power enough to try to abandon his goal of revenge in order to keep them safe.

Aki's body possessed by the Gun Fiend Aki's body possessed by the Gun Fiend VIEW IMAGE Personality Aki generally appeared to be a very stoic man who acted maturely and sometimes rudely to the point of rudeness when with his fellow Demon Slayers, but in reality he was quite compassionate. He tended to become easily attached to others and hated seeing people get hurt, especially his closest friends. Unlike many of his associates, he was described by Himeno as a "normal person," in the sense that he still grieved for the lost and wasn't weary enough to shut down his feelings. Despite this, he was very determined, and his main motivation for killing the Gun Devil was revenge for his family. However, he was entirely willing to put his own life at risk to save others, even if it hindered his goals.

Appearance Human Form Aki was a young man with medium-length black hair that he usually wore in a pompadour style (shoulder-length with long bangs when undone) and blue eyes. In the past, when he and Himeno met through Kishibe and became partners, Aki used to have shorter hair.

He frequently wore the Public Safety Demon Hunter uniform; a suit and tie. He also wore black earrings and usually carried his sword on his back.

Demon Form After the Gun Devil took control of his body, Aki became the Gun Fiend. During this time, his hair was loose, and his eyes and forehead were covered in dark veins. The barrel and bolt of an M1911 were seen protruding from his face, between his eyes, with the hammer of the weapon emerging from the back of his head. Aki's left forearm was replaced with an M4.

Aki Hayakawa (早はや川かわ, Hayakawa Aki?) was the deuteragonist of the Public Safety Saga. He was a Public Safety Demon Slayer working under Makima's special squad[1] that had contracts with the Curse Devil and the Future Devil, and a previous contract with the Fox Devil.
