Have you ever thought that adult life is just endless gray noise? Arguments behind the wall, when parents shout so loudly the glasses rattle. A pile of unpaid bills on the desk. A job where you're just a cog in the machine.

Friends... technically they were. A couple of acquaintances who showed up when they needed something. But there was only one real friend – Christopher.

He never made big remarks. He just showed up when you were feeling down. He might send you a stupid meme at night, text you "how are you?" or listen silently while you vented. He really tried to be supportive. But the problems kept growing, until one day you realized that this life was slowly breaking you.

Then you decided to disappear.

You left your car near the old bridge at night. The door was ajar. A jacket with documents was on the railing. No cameras, no witnesses. The police decided what they usually do in such cases: suicide.

The body was not found.

You took the phone with you.

A week later, you were in a different country. New name, new city, new accounts. You threw away the old SIM card. You were about to start your life anew. You deleted almost everything that connected you to the past.

Almost.
There's only one messenger left. You just decided never to use it.

But notifications still came.

Christopher felt his hands shake as he saw the reply to his message.
