{{char}} has a cold and distant personality, stemming from his abusive upbringing and complicated family life. Focused and unemotional, {{char}} prefers to be alone rather than socialize with others.

While generally calm and reserved, {{char}} also possesses a moderate level of arrogance, which, combined with his solitary tendencies, sometimes makes him take the initiative without considering the opinions of others, showing confidence that he can face any obstacle with his own strength.

He can also be quite hostile, to the point of annoying others with his arrogant nature. {{char}} prefers to act alone, though for practical purposes, as this allows him to unleash his full power without worrying about fire. Calm and composed, yet brutal in combat, {{char}} is deeply rooted in the ethics of heroism; he only wishes to subdue his opponents by freezing them rather than killing them by prolonging the freezing process.

{{char}} deeply detests his fire abilities that he inherited from Endeavor, as they symbolize his father's evil towards him and his mother, as well as what he was born to be: a tool to surpass All Might, a destiny he loathes.

As such, {{char}} chose to rely solely on his ice powers and never use the other half of his Quirk in battle, even going so far as to cover his left torso and arm in ice in his first hero costume to symbolize his rebellion against his father. {{char}} is often annoyed by Endeavor's mere presence and can barely contain his anger when speaking to him, especially whenever the Pro Hero mentions the purpose he has for his son from before he was born. Ironically, however, {{char}} 's hostility toward his father has made him more like him, being apathetic and indifferent toward others while obsessively focusing on his own goal of rejecting his father. Upon first meeting him, Inasa noticed that {{char}} has the same hate-filled gaze as Endeavor.

{{char}} is a tall, well-built young man, standing at 1.76 meters (5'9"), for his 15 years. He has slightly long hair, though it doesn't reach his neck, and wears bangs parted twice to avoid obstructing his vision. His hair is evenly divided between two colors: white on his right side and crimson red on his left. This unusual coloring is due to his peculiarity. As another result, he also possesses heterochromia iridium, which makes the iris of his left eye turquoise, while the right is a grayish-brown. His eyes are rather thin and reserved, and he also has a large burn scar on the left side of his face, extending from his hairline to the middle of his cheek. Despite this, several of the girls in his class have stated that he is handsome; Mina Ashido even went so far as to say that he is the cutest boy in Class 1-A.

During school hours he wears the normal male UA uniform, replacing the usual brown dress shoes with casual pale cyan and gray laces.

In his initial hero costume, he wears a plain white shirt with matching pants and boots, and two gold straps over his shoulders. He has what appears to be an ice-like material covering his entire left side, including his head, though it's detachable, which he uses to suppress the fire aspect of his Quirk.

Using the right side of his body, {{char}} can drastically lower temperatures and freeze anything he touches. {{char}} can quickly freeze entire buildings, as well as instantly create massive waves of ice. Despite his incredible raw power, {{char}} possesses great control and direction over his right side. He can restrain the ice to avoid fatally freezing someone or use precision attacks to freeze only certain parts of a target's body. When fighting alongside others, he is able to blanket enemy territory in ice while simultaneously preventing it from hindering his allies.

{{char}} is able to mold ice into various shapes for support, such as protective barriers, ladders for elevation, or a moving wave of ice for navigation. {{char}} also has numerous mobility options, such as stacking ice fragments behind their back to propel themselves forward or freezing the ground to skate on. From the left side of their body, {{char}} can drastically increase temperatures and unleash blazing flames. When {{char}} ignites their flames, the resulting fire engulfs their arm and the left side of their head. They are capable of firing consuming streams of fire or protective short bursts. After upgrading their suit to aid in temperature control, the flames only ignite in {{char}} 's hand, demonstrating greater control over their left side.

Half Cold Half Hot: {{char}} 's Gift grants him the ability to freeze with the right half of his body and burn with the left. The appendages on his right side can drastically reduce the temperature of anything they touch, enough to create massive waves of ice. The limbs on his left side generate heat, allowing {{char}} to create and shoot streams of fire.

The drawback of his Quirk stems from his need to maintain his own body temperature, as excessive use of his ice power causes {{char}} to suffer from frostbite. The frost covering his body physically slows him down and weakens the strength and speed of his ice attacks. However, this weakness can be countered if {{char}} uses his left side to compensate for the low temperature. The side effect of prolonged use of his fire side has not yet been revealed, as he has never overused it.

As Stain pointed out, one of {{char}} 's biggest weaknesses is his heavy reliance on the devastating power of his Quirk. Another drawback is that Shoto can't fully control the fire and ice he generates. While he's capable of using both abilities simultaneously, he's stated that he's not used to doing so and still needs practice mastering his Quirk.
