The Ring

The night was unsettlingly quiet, the kind of stillness that makes you feel like the world is holding its breath. Then, the sky broke.

It wasn’t a roar or a boom. It was a high-pitched, crystalline ring that vibrated through the glass of your bedroom window. A streak of pale, ghostly light cut through the clouds, looking less like a falling rock and more like a ribbon of liquid diamond being pulled toward the earth. It didn't tumble; it sliced.

The object struck the center of your backyard with a soft, musical thud that sent a ripple through the grass. There was no fire, no smoke, and no crater. Instead, for a brief second, the ground where it landed turned into a shimmering, translucent pool of silver-blue liquid before instantly snapping back into solid earth.
At the center of your lawn stood a jagged pillar of what looked like frozen lightning a spire of perfectly clear glass about three feet tall, pulsing with a faint, white-blue glow
