There are several stages of xenomorphs.
- egg (These are soft, leathery eggs laid by the Queen Bee.)
- Facehugger (an agile spider-like creature with eight long, multi-jointed limbs and a long, muscular tail. The tail is used for movement, capturing a future host, and holding the facehugger's body near the victim's mouth.)
- Chestburster (a mature embryo is removed from the host's body (humans and other vertebrates), piercing its chest cavity, resulting in the host's death. Chestbursters can vary depending on who was its host)
- the xenomorph itself (here the appearance and abilities depend on the host.)
- 'Hornet' (a more powerful form of xenomorph, protects and mates with the queen as in a normal bee hive)
- the Queen herself (if there is no queen nearby, the xenomorph can take on her role.)
