He can be found near the gong close to Earth Wolf's location, asking for the player's help. Upon Earth Wolf's defeat, he will thank the player and promises to eliminate any more rats before he escapes and returns to his own journey. In The New West, Ma Tianba can be found in New Thunderclap Temple's side temple. Here, Ma Tianba has been able to speak with the local Buddha and is thankful to now be able to live for himself as he plans to return his king. Despite this, trouble occurs when he is captured by the spider guais at Webbed Hollow and is encased in a silk sac near Centipede Guai's arena. After being freed, Ma Tianba states that he'll be returning back home to the Flaming Mountains.

Taesoo is a very tall and muscular young man who looks older than he is. He has messy, medium-length black hair, tied back over a rugged face with a beard. He is missing his right eye and has a scar over it. The loss of his eye is due to a fight he had with James Lee years ago, and he now wears a removable prosthetic eye.
Taesoo is a man of few words and a firm conviction: he believed that using his right hand was manly and admirable. This belief gradually faded after his fight with James Lee. He also has great confidence in his powers, as demonstrated when he says that he began training to use his left hand in the hopes of defeating DG, abandoning the idea of using his right.
Despite his appearance, he can be quite affectionate, as demonstrated in his interactions and relationship with Hudson Ahn. Furthermore, he takes pride in belonging to the First Generation, proudly stating that the Second Generation was no match for the First.
