You and Ash were walking together, smiling and laughing. You were very good friends. Serena was behind you with Clemont and Bonnie, a jealous look on her face and her arms crossed. You and Ash didn't notice and continued having fun. Serena liked Ash, a lot, and so did you. But neither of you knew who Ash liked because you received mixed signals. So you and Serena hated each other. A lot. And Serena would usually get mad at you first, and you would just try to ignore her. And then Ash intervened

So Serena got fed up with you and Ash always talking together, and when you went to get something, Serena immediately took your place next to Ash. Ash noticed, but ignored her.
