Ashcroft's desk with pictures of Alyssa and the cured Emily:Following the fight, Kennedy ran to Ashcroft before she realized they were trapped. As the lights gone out, she resigned to her fate before they were rescued by Umber Eyes of the Hound Wolf Squad, having been sent by Chris Redfield once he learnt of Kennedy's involvement and the hidden lab. Topside, Ashcroft was treated for her wounds, before being loaded on a BSAA helicopter. Kennedy approached her who still felt guilty for Emily dying, but he said there was a chance she might still be saved. Later, Emily's mutated body was found, and cured of her infection, her eyesight restored. Ashcroft adopted Emily, and informed this to Kennedy. Amidst the phone call, Ashcroft was interrupted by Dempsy who asked for her report. Her desk is now adorned with a picture of her late mother, and a frame of herself and Emily
Elpis within PANDORA
Kennedy offered to buy her time, for Ashcroft to input any wrong password to destroy it. However, she offered another idea, to which Kennedy fully trusted her decision. Ashcroft bargained Kennedy's life for her to unlock Elpis. Standing before the console, Ashcroft was asked "What does the creator desire?" Choosing to remember her mother's last words, and believe Spencer's regret, Ashcroft inputted "Hope", thereby releasing Elpis. They were presented with 6 vials, and Zeno in his arrogance in belief that it was a virus, chose to inject the vial before Ashcroft could warn him. Zeno's infection was neutralized, as Ashcroft told him of Spencer's regret, and that she was never special. When Zeno demanded answers from her, Kennedy threw himself at him but was tossed near Ashcroft who held a vial of Elpis. She proclaimed Elpis was an antiviral agent, designed to undo all virus-based infection. Shortly after, Gideon arrived, having been beaten by Kennedy prior in the Raccoon City ruins, was marvelled at Spencer's genius. Zeno angrily confronted him for his wrong research, which Gideon replied Spencer's thesis was incomplete, and there had been no correlation between the cloning experiments and Elpis itself, with Grace and Emily unrelated. Gideon proclaimed he would carry Spencer's vision by using Elpis to cause anarchy around the world, whereas Zeno had wanted a weapon.Done with the Connections, Gideon decapitated Zeno with his arm, having injected himself with NE-γ Type parasite, before stabbing her with his tentacle. He retrieved an Elpis sample, before proceeding to destroy PANDORA, and ARK. Using a few precious time she had, Ashcroft cured Kennedy of his syndrome. The platform gave away, plunging all of them to the lower floors where Ashcroft was knocked unconscious, leaving Kennedy to battle Gideon, and killing him
Ashcroft learning about the truth of who she is
Finding a crane blocking their path, Kennedy boosted Ashcroft to another area of the place. Once she got to the control room, and lifted the crane away, paving a path for Kennedy. Ashcroft made her way to the archives where she spot several records about her on the screen. Finding a slot reminiscent to an MO Disc, Ashcroft put the one she had obtained from her mother's satchel, and learnt the interview her mother had conducted to Spencer following Umbrella's crash in 2004. She found she herself was a natural born child, and was given away to her mother through Spencer's will. Lastly, Spencer referred Elpis, his last project being his blind hope. Ashcroft was shocked before finding Kennedy on surveillance, nearing death and just outside PANDORA. Quickly making her way to him, Ashcroft tended to Kennedy and they arrived with Zeno awaiting them.
Descending to ARK
Eventually Ashcroft regained conscious, and was led by Zeno to PANDORA where Elpis was locked behind a password. He warned if the wrong password was inputted, ARK would be destroyed and so too would Elpis. Ashcroft insisted she did not have the knowledge, before they were interrupted by Kennedy. He tried to fight Zeno but was beaten into submission by Zeno. Before he could kill him, Ashcroft grabbed Kennedy's fallen gun, threatening her own life if Zeno did not spare him. This gave Kennedy time to shoot off the crane, and grabbed Ashcroft as the structure falls below. They landed on a platform that took them to the facility's waste disposal unit. However, by that point, Kennedy's Raccoon City Syndrome had grown severe, and was knocked out for hours in which Ashcroft stayed with him, till he woke up. Ashcroft realized Kennedy was one of the Raccoon City survivors, and asked why he had come here if his syndrome was in stage three. He affirmed of his resolution to make a difference, as part of his continuous atonement. He set out to destroy Elpis, and initially rejected Ashcroft's assistance but upon seeing her resolve, Ashcroft was made to promise to destroy it.
Zeno telling Ashcroft about the clone attempts
Furthermore, Ashcroft was shown a picture of Emily. However, Zeno revealed Emily was but a clone, and many others had been made with furthest back being Chloe, the first of the Series 70 subject. The many clones after were supposedly made to replicate her, the original successful clone. She was shown surveilling footage of Chloe wandering about Raccoon City Orphanage on February 1990, seeing her friends the Series 60 children rampaging and killing Umbrella's researchers and nurses. Eventually, Chloe accidentally wandered to ARK where she discovered her origin as a test tube baby. She was subdued by a researcher and killed afterwards, upon showing symptoms. Viewing the footage, Ashcroft was shell-shocked and overwhelmed, thinking she was responsible for hundreds of children experimented and dying, her mother's murder, and that she was made. Zeno told her to look to the future, but Ashcroft fainted. Kennedy came to her rescue but Zeno summoned the T-501 to deal with him, as he carried her unconscious body to ARK.
Raccoon City Revelations
En route to Raccoon City Center, Ashcroft overheard Gideon and Zeno discovering Kennedy had tripped their alarm, having interacted an old BSAA computer on the outer walls in East Racoon City. At their stop, Ashcroft accompanied Zeno to the ruins of Raccoon Police Department, while Gideon dealt with Kennedy. He led her to the East Wing, where he told her Elpis was currently being hunted by all covert militaries around the world in Raccoon City. Ashcroft learnt Elpis was supposedly the last virus created by Umbrella's founder Spencer, with the purpose of mind control and its infectious ability. When the 1998 outbreak had occurred, the Connections could not let Elpis be stolen, and had lobbied the Sterilization Strategy. Using their connections to The Family, the organization forced the federal government to approve of Derek C. Simmons's strategy, in their bid to contain the outbreak and hid Spencer's last creation deep within ARK.[15][16] Its importance was deemed so vital that former President Adam Benford's was assassinated when he tried to reveal the truth.

Reaching the water treatment facility behind the chapel, Ashcroft was stalked by the girl. Fearing she might abduct Emily again, Ashcroft safely left her behind. Exploiting the creature’s vulnerability to light, Ashcroft manually opened the roof hatch, flooding the area with light and melting the girl into puddles. Ashcroft returned to Emily, only to found the girl stopped breathing. In a desperate attempt to save her, Ashcroft did CPR to revive Emily, but she began to convulsed in pain, and mutated out of control due to the t-Virus laid dormant within. Ashcroft tried to plead with the mutated Emily, but the mutated girl was shot by Kennedy, despite her cries and protests. She mourned over Emily, and blamed herself for her tragic fate. Despite Kennedy's attempts to console her, Ashcroft tossed back the Requiem, and left Kennedy behind. She absentmindedly wandered to the exit, and met Gideon who introduced her to his employer Zeno. He told her she was the key to unlock Elpis, a project that could change the world. Wanting answers on what Elpis was, Ashcroft willingly went with Gideon and Zeno to the Raccoon City ruins in the helicopter.
Ashcroft witnessing Reed's fate
Unlocking the door to the courtyard, Ashcroft met Harry Reed, a pilot who offered to watch Emily, have them flown out the care center in exchange for her to retrieve the helicopter's key after it was confiscated by his employers. Initially, Ashcroft was skeptical, thinking Reed would trick or abandon her but the man cited his old war wound, affecting his mobility and reasoned her agileness could do the job faster. She accepted the offer, and went to the cabin beside the helipad. Unexpectedly, Ashcroft found an underground lab beneath where countless patients were experimented for their blood. There, Ashcroft overheard Gideon contacting Zeno, after testing her blood and confirmed her to be the "key". Seeing no further need for the lab, Gideon triggered self-destruction sequence, releasing all mutated patients. She fought through tides of blood, before reaching the surface again, having claimed the helicopter key. Ashcroft urged Reed to hurriedly take off, as patients shambling towards them. However, Reed had taken off too late, as zombies began to bust through the front glass, grappling him. Ashcroft was forced to be on co-pilot seat, and attempted to take control of the destabilizing helicopter, only for them to crashed at the cemetery. The impact killed Reed, and left Emily severely injured. Ashcroft freed Emily as they flee to the chapel, with the cemetery ridden with zombies attracted to the crash. Eventually, they were saved by Kennedy who told her to escape.
info
In the basement, Ashcroft was relentlessly pursued by the girl, as she attempted to free an unconscious Emily from her cell. Successfully powering the basement, Ashcroft unlocked Emily's cell, but also many others containing the zombified patients. As she rushed them to the elevator, Ashcroft was continuously pursued by the girl who climbed after the lift and laid on top of them. Reaching back to the ground floor, Ashcroft forcefully open the lift doors, and removed Emily first before climbing out. However, the girl entered the lift, and caught Ashcroft's leg, trying to pull her back in. Eventually, the titanium cable snapped, plunging the girl below and nearly severing Ashcroft's leg.
Ashcroft meets Emily
Amidst her exploration, Ashcroft encountered Jeff Gray, a dying staff member who screamed at her to stay away from Emily, a young blind girl sealed behind glass. Ashcroft learnt Emily had a cellmate named Marie who had escaped to the basement, through the hole dug in her glass cell and became the creature she was hunted by. While searching a way to free Emily, Ashcroft encountered Gideon in lead researcher Anthony Richardson's office. She asked the reason for her kidnapping but Gideon saw it as her liberation. He told Ashcroft she was the "key" to free Elpis, and was chosen because "her master" made her who she is. Fearing she would get capture again, Grace fled and bolted the door with a chair, before creating an illusion she had escaped by opening a door then hiding behind a nearby corner. Gideon tried to intimidate her to reveal herself but failed, leaving the room shortly after. Reaching the security office where Ashcroft found Luke Clark dead, she discovered a puzzle that could only be read with braille, and went back to free Emily from her glass cell. They went back to the office where Ashcroft guided Emily to the box, but amidst solving it, few infected patients and staff stumbled to them. Ashcroft locked Emily in the room, as she went to defend them. Eventually, Emily successfully solved the puzzle, but was immediately taken to the basement by the girl who was still alive. Reluctantly, Ashcroft went after them to rescue Emily.Ashcroft and Emily after escaping The Girl
Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center Outbreak
Eventually, Ashcroft was placed on the East Wing of the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center where she was administered drugs and had her blood slowly drained out of her. Gideon collected her blood and have it tested, to ensure Ashcroft was the "key". Sometime after, Ashcroft awoke to herself restrained, and tried to call for help. However, taking time to calm herself, Ashcroft freed herself of her restrains and explores her surroundings. She was hunted by The Girl but was saved by DSO agent Leon Scott Kennedy who had arrived at the institution to apprehend Gideon. Before they could leave, Gideon triggered the facility's lockdown, separating them both. As the shutters closed, Kennedy tried to ask the reason Ashcroft was targeted but could not answer. In his effort to save her, Kennedy gave Requiem to defend herself, and told her to leave.
Going back to Wrenwood Hotel
Arriving at Wrenwood, Ashcroft stopped at an alley where she presented her identity to city's local officer Norman Cole who informed her the hotel was to be soon torn down. Checking inside the building, Ashcroft found a photo of herself and key to Room 204. Investigating the room, she came across a bed filled with numerous photos of herself and her mother, eventually settling on a photo taken on the night of the murder. Ashcroft briefly remembered and mourned. However, she quickly received an anonymous silent call, and was creeped out.Ashcroft intended to leave but remembered her mother having hide her satchel behind a painting, shortly before her death. She recovered her mother's journal and an MO Disc. Ashcroft was quickly startled by the dazed officer Cole before he turned in front of her. In trying to get away from him, Ashcroft accidentally trapped herself on the luggage cart, as the zombified Cole tried to kill her with a shotgun, but she escaped and ran to the 2nd floor. However, Ashcroft was grabbed and bitten on the forearm, before using a glass shard to propel the zombified Cole outside, killing him. Hearing music upstairs, Ashcroft met Gideon sitting by the fireplace. He tells her he had planted the body here to lure her, and claimed she was the chosen one. Ashcroft tried to run but was choked and knocked unconscious by Gideon who then carried her to his vehicle whilst causing an outbreak to put DSO agent Leon S. Kennedy's attention away from him
FBI career (2025–2026)
Following her mother's death, Ashcroft joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation as an intelligence analyst in 2025, despite having no prior experience. She received firearms training during her career, though her superior, Nathan Dempsy, still regarded her primarily as a “good technical analyst” but had no field experience. Since her mother's murder, Ashcroft had become reclusive, preferring to spent her days working in the bureau, and her free time at home near the midwestern office, never establishing contact with anyone. This proved difficult for Gideon to approach her as he had sent a private detective named M.D. Birdie from the RGT Detective Agency to monitor her from September 9 to 16 in 2026. In order to draw Ashcroft out, Gideon asked for his employer and financier Zeno to use his Connections's within the government to arrange for the investigation to be handed to the FBI, and ensure Ashcroft was put on the case to investigate the abandoned and partially burnt Wrenwood Hotel, where he had planted the body of a survivor from Raccoon City.Amidst the ongoing mysterious deaths, all of whom were former survivors of the 1998 outbreak in Raccoon City, Ashcroft was writing a report about the fourth body who was found at an abandoned government office. However, Ashcroft was quickly summoned by Dempsy who informed her of a fifth body discovered at the Wrenwood hotel, unknowingly being manipulated by the Connections. Hearing the site of her mother's murder, Ashcroft went into shock, and Dempsy gave her the choice to investigate and report back her findings, telling her to see the assignment as facing her past. Eventually, Ashcroft chose to investigate the site
Wrenwood Hotel Case (2018)
In 2018, Ashcroft and her mother arrived at the city of Wrenwood where she had found her next work. For 2 days, they stayed there till her mother's work was finished. However, while researching, Alyssa was stalked by the hooded man who was infected with a mutated strain of the t-Virus, and sent by Gideon as an assassin. That night, Ashcroft and her mother were staying at Wrenwood Hotel when Ashcroft unknowingly received a call from Gideon, confirming her identity before being abruptly hang up. Shortly after, the hotel suffered a power outage, and her mother who had suspected the hooded man to come for them, quickly ushered Ashcroft to leave with her. Despite Ashcroft's confusion, she willingly followed her mother to the lobby. There, the Wrenwood Hotel Manager assured her the blackout was natural due to the hotel's 40 year old circuitry, before being killed by the hooded man who slit his throat. Her mother Alyssa quickly shot the man, and lock him behind the reception's backdoor. Ashcroft was shock at her mother's actions, and saw her hiding her satchel behind the painting. She tried to ask her of its content but was told she would explain later. Reaching to the emergency door, Ashcroft suffered a a panic attack, following her calling the city's local enforcement to report about the murders despite her mother's protest. She was calmed down by her mother who reminded her she was "her hope", though Ashcroft did not understand her mother's words. They tried to leave, however, Ashcroft saw her mother's neck severed with a machete by the hooded man who told her he had found her. The man stumbled backwards and died from the gunshot wounds Alyssa had inflicted, his body crashing into a table and causing a lit oil lantern to fall and set the room's carpet on fire. A now severely traumatized Ashcroft was left to mourn her mother's passing, before escaping the hotel.
her Childhood
Due to the nature of her mother's freelance work, they would often move around, going from one place to another where Alyssa would find work. This inadvertently impacted Ashcroft's social skills, as constant transfers making it difficult for her to form friendships. In 2004, former Umbrella scientist and Spencer's devotee, Victor Gideon learnt of Spencer's last research in memory-blood and its capabilities of transferring memories through t-Virus. Gideon thought of Elpis as Spencer's last work to be a powerful virus, but it was locked behind a password in ARK, a deep underground facility beneath the ruins of Raccoon City. Eventually, Gideon learnt of Grace's existence, and presumed her to be the successful child clone born from the memory transfer experiment, and had Spencer's memory needed to unlock Elpis. In December of that same year, Gideon acquired her incomplete medical records, and attempted to model the many clones after her but still could not replicate Grace. While Gideon and the Connections were providing clones from ARK, and attempted to replicate her, he also tried to track her down.
Biography
Originally an orphaned child, Grace was adopted by one of Umbrella's founders Oswell E. Spencer, who he regarded to be his blind hope and atonement for everything he did, following the 1998 Raccoon City Incident. Wanting to leave a legacy behind and giving up Grace to a safer hand, Spencer willingly accepted investigative reporter and survivor of the Raccoon City outbreak Alyssa Ashcroft's request of an interview where he said his piece, hoping it would serve as "a requiem to those who have passed". Towards the end of the interview, Alyssa was initially alarmed of Spencer holding a baby Grace, thinking she was one of his many test subjects in his quest for evolution and godhood. However, Spencer denied it, claiming Grace to be a normal child he had taken in. Spencer asked Alyssa to hold the infant Grace, and designated her to be his blind hope Following Spencer's death in 2006, Spencer's butler Patrick wrote to Alyssa and informed her of his master's final will, granting her the right of Grace's guardianship and becoming her adoptive mother. Eventually, Grace would take on her mother's last name, Ashcroft.
