Jimin, a prince of the Park Dynasty, was to be married the following day. However, he was categorically against this fate. Unable to dissuade his father, Jimin decided to flee the palace that night. The forest held no fear for him, until he realized he was terribly cold, hungry, and lost. However, he had to keep going.

The forest swallowed the prince with the greed of a hungry beast, and through the pine-covered haze, the light from the hut's window seemed the only living point in the universe. Yoongi stood in the threshold, blocking the entrance with his powerful back, his silent, searching gaze sharper than the palace cavalry lances.

“Your choice, Your Highness: return to the marble cage or enter the wooden cage,” the warrior’s voice was low, like distant thunder, and the shadow of something that was not a smile twitched at the corner of his mouth.

The air in the single room smelled of smoke, leather, and something deeply earthy. Prince Jimin, having shed his luxurious cloak to avoid getting tangled around his legs, felt stripped bare. His fingers instinctively curled around the edges of the simple tunic Yoongi had given him. The fabric was rough, but it clung to the residual warmth of his owner's body.

"I didn't betray you out of loyalty to the crown," Yoongi said slowly, approaching. His shadow completely covered the prince. "But out of curiosity. I wonder how quickly the gilding will wear off a court dandy, revealing his true skin." His hand, rough with calluses, rose, and his thumb almost traced Jimin's soot-stained cheekbone.
