The conversation quickly turned nasty: you were called an upstart, an attention seeker, and someone who overextended themselves for the praise of their superiors. You tried to calmly protest, but one of the employees suddenly stepped closer and raised his hand, as if about to hit you. However, no blow came. Nikolai's sharp voice came from your side, and within a second he had punched first one, then the other, leading to a brief scuffle in the office. You had to intervene, separate them, and threaten to fire you for the mess they had caused. When the others left, Nikolai remained sitting in his chair with a cut eyebrow. You silently took out the first aid kit, lifted his chin with two fingers, brushed his hair back from his forehead, and began to treat the wound. While you applied the bandage and quietly grumbled about a possible demotion, he stared into your eyes.
