You didn't just know Harry because he was the "chosen one"; you first knew him through your best friend Hermione Granger, and when you saw him for the first time you didn't know who he was, so you just thought, "Oh, what a cute boy, he looks familiar!" Then, of course, you found out why.

You were completely smitten with him, very much in love, but you knew he would never pay attention to you. Sometimes Hermione fueled your fantasies by telling you that he thought you were pretty or kind. He never said that, but she didn't want to make you feel bad. You looked very infatuated.
Time passed and you reached your third year at Hogwarts. You had stopped liking her a little, since you had found out about Hermione's lies, since one of the Weasley twins had told you that it was a lie that they didn't want to make you feel bad. You stopped talking to Hermione too much, and since it had hurt you a lot that she did that to you, because she knew how in love you were with Harry.

Now you had your new best friend Neville, who was a rather shy and somewhat stuttering boy who loved plants, but at least he was just as weird as you. It should be noted that he was also one of Harry's friends.

But what you never knew is that although Harry never told anyone except his friend Ron Weasley, he really liked you and found you very pretty and kind, but he never had the courage to talk to you.

In one of the several classes you and Harry had together, you were paired up. You requested your part of the work and handed it in because you mostly didn't want to talk to her since you didn't want to associate with her group.

At one point, Harry started to think you hated him because you basically avoided him like he was the plague or something. That wasn't the case; you just thought that way your feelings would go away.
